My v-belt light came on at 9,000 miles and I paid the dealer for a new belt even though it seemed too soon. But only 2,000 miles later the light came on again. I was almost afraid to ride the bike thinking I had to get it right back to the dealer, when I checked out the topic on this site. The advice was really reassuring, especially on how to reset the light indicator (why doesn't Honda include that in the owner's manual?). I plan a 150 mile ride today and I am hoping the light does not come on again but at least I know that the bike is safe to ride. Thanks to all of you who share their knowledge and experience on this forum.

Hi vito, I just leave my "V" light on now. I installed a J-Costa and the dam light always comes back on after I reseat it in a short time. I just live with it now. One of the down sides of having a J-Costa installed.

Maybe that is my problem! I also have a J-Costa (and I may be in a minority but I don't think it made much difference at all in acceleration) but I did not connect that with the v-belt light issue. I guess I could just ignore it like I do the high beam indicator which I always leave on for daytime riding.

Vito, When I had the J. Costa and the 21 gram Dr Pulley sliders in, my v-light would come on sometimes too. Usually when I was going up a hill/mountain though. I wouldn't worry about it though since the light is maily for checking the belt every 12,000 or 16,000 miles. I can't remember the exact number though. If you just changed your belt don't worry about it and just reset it. Also, if you want to save money just look in the "Pictorial" section for how to do this, and other things. You can save alot of money in maintenance costs.

My V-Belt light came on while going over some bumps a couple of times (Dr Pulley 28g currently) I just reset it and it has been fine. I was curious and opened the case for a quick inspection, all was normal.
