It is hard to get a club started and then hard to keep it going. There are a few active clubs in the states, but most large scooter riders are out there on their own.

I tried to get one started, but with a full time job it was impossible to keep it going. It takes an awful lot of hard work - do not think there will be any reward. If you want to get one going you should talk to all of the local dealers. they may let you put signs up in their shops.

St. Louis has a good club - You need a web site with a forum and a regular meeting location. It is a fine balance between a single person controlling the club and mob rule where nothing gets done.

You could also visit the member sections of all of the various scooter forums and look for members of those forums in your state or vicinity. Send them e-mails to let them know of your intentions.

If you are out on your own and want to connect locally Here is my Idea that I have used for the work of organizing.
Go to the Public DMV Records and pick up a list of people with maxi scooters registered to them. Normally there will be a fee and if possible you should have the digital list e-mailed to you by DMV. it will cost about $25. Invite them to a ride in at a local low key restaurant. Propose the Idea of a monthly ride together. exchange e-mail at the meeting. and create a ride list. take a nice local ride together as a first ride.
Now understand that you are and will be the leader till such time as you can hold and election of officers.

Great idea, I never thought that the DMV would provide that to an individual. Way to think outside the box!

The most effective advertising is word of mouth; It fails when we have now way to reconnect so they way to do this is he business card that brings People to a website. These are printed and handed to your friends. they distribute them to scoots they see and people they know. the business card tells them what they will forget by voice contact alone. "how to get connected"

Try meetup.com -- that's an easy way to get set up. It does cost money to host a club, but it's easy to use and I've had a lot of success with it.
