Well it's finally Summer and the temp's are getting hotter each day here in the Northern hemisphere. Drink plenty of water before you ride and then stay hydrated. Hot wind and the sun will suck the water right out of your body. Stay cool.

Kurt and all the others in the Southern hemisphere....stay warm and safe and have some cocoa.

Dennis , You are right , drink lots of water. I already got dehydrated on a trip this year. I had to hole up early one day because of it. I guess age has something to do with it, and meds. I thought I was drinking enough, but apparently not.
I got queezy, headache, shaky muscles not thinking clearly. I stopped at 2 pm and it had been three days of 90+ F. heat. I knew I was getting dehydrated when not going to the bathroom as often as normal. So I drank about a gallon that evening. And about a quart the next morning before riding again. Quit early the next day also. Better by the third day, It was a 500 mile day. Drank a lot at every stop.

So do as Dennis says and drink Plenty of fluids.

Great advice Dennis. The key is drinking the water before you get thirsty and as MaxB said, knowing when to quit and take a break. It's the journey, not the destination.
