| The most obvious difference between the V-3 clutch and the new V-4 clutch is that the V-4 has 4 clutch shoes (wear pads), while the V-3 clutch has, you guessed it, three clutch shoes.
Functionally the two operate the same in that they are designed to lock up at a certain RPM. The new V-4 clutch has more clutch pad surface area, and given that it has more clutch shoes, push pins and springs it also seems to allow more fine tuning adjustment.
