| Hi Tony, When you get the Breakaway throttle lock in. Take some pictures of the installation, if you get a chance. Where did you get it and was it a good deal? |

| I also have the Brakeaway throttle lock and have used it on 2 bikes. My buddy and I had to use some modification (a little bracket) to actually make it fit as the cables were in the way. So far it's worked fine though you want to make sure that your hand stays on the throttle cos sometimes some bumps in the road will cause it to disengage. Also make sure you retighten the screws after a ride as once time the whole screw connecting it to the bolt under the brake just vibrated clean off the bike. I actually have Kuryakyn ISO grips, and while the company does make one for the ISO grips, I just removed the rubber stock grip, figured out how much of the grip would actually be covered by the throttle lock and cut off the rest, then replaced this 'ring' on the throttle, installed the Brakeaway, and then slid the ISO grip on. It makes the ISO grip stick out a little bit more but that's no problem for me. |

| Hammy I did move my brake lever a little to eliminate that rubbing and I had to add the little cam extension I took it out on a long ride Sunday morning and still works fine But I am going down to the garage now to make sure everything is still on. Thanks for the heads up. Tony |

| I really like my throttle lock. It's a NEC. The only down side with any throttle lock is when your riding with a group.

| I have the Vista Cruise and it works good. It is a cheap version of the Breakaway. I'm sure the breakaway is much nicer but the Vista Cruise works for me. If anyone goes on long trips I would seriously think about getting something. They really do help your wrist out when riding long distances. |

| Thanks folks. I've decided to give the Vista Cruise a try. I'll post the results but am sure I'll be as pleased as some of you are. |

| Marty,
If you don't like the Vista Cruise it is only going to put you out $20... so no big deal. One thing I did was cut out about 1/4" of the grip. I will try to find a pic of a grip and explain what I did. It is very easy to do and only requires a mack knife. But this is only if you have stock grips. If you plan to put new grips on just don't shove the grip all the way on or it will push against the vista cruise and not work properly. |

| Great. Thanks. I'm not sure where I'm supposed to post this next comment but I'll just try it here. Some of you know I bought a 2002 sw with low miles but lots of cosmetic damage and took it for a 1800 mi shakedown cruise a couple months ago. It was perfect mechanically but had lots of tupperware issues. When I got home I stripped it down to the frame, epoxied lots of fairing locking pieces that were broken, did my thing on repairing the gouges and scrapes, and took it to a friend who sprayed it black with 3 coats of clear coat. Dennis saw it in pieces when he and I went for a toy run in December. Well, it's all back together except for the front fairing and looks amazing. Looks brand new except for the muffler cover (which I plan on replacing along with the handlebar cover) but I'm holding off on putting the fairing back on until I make up my mind on changing fork springs. I've taken lots of pics but not sure how to load them on the site. Maybe my wife can help. Can't wait for everyone to see it. I'm planning a trip on it to Kalispell Montana last week in May. |

| You may just want to look at this. It seems mine didn't fit around the entire grip so I just cut out about 4 rows of the grip. It is very easy to do. Like a previous post said... you should check the throttle on how well it will return when you install these throttle locks. Marty. Use this link to post pics in the forum..like on your post here if you want. https://www.silverwing600.com/t850-posting-pictures-in-the-main-forum-in-any-topic |

| When I installed a Vista Cruise on my SW I cheated by adding a couple washers between the handlebar endweight and the handlebar so the grip could be pulled back about 1/16" was just what mine needed. Cutting the grip would have worked as well but I didn't do that because I wasn't certain I'd keep the Vista Cruise or not. |

| I purchased a Brakeaway throttle lock about 2 years ago. When I ordered it I has already installed Kuryakin grips. When I went to install it, the plastic insert was too small. I discarded it and installed the lock. It fit and funtioned properly. I went on a 3500 mile trip last summer. I couldn't imagine doing a 3 week trip without it. In the Rocky mountains a deer decided it wanted to cross the highway while I'm bearing down on it at 70 mph. My reactions were to immediately apply the brakes. I didn't even think of the throttle lock. It work exactly as it should. It disengaged and I managed to evaded the deer. After cleaning my pants I continued on my merry way. The only concern I had is that your speed varies quite a bit due to headwinds and hills. Small price to pay for a wrist saver. In my opinion it was money well spent. |

| royr,
Are you in Edmonton, Canada? My sister and her family have lived there for quite a few years now. With the Breakaway throttle lock..can you adjust it if you want to increase or decrease your speed without disengaging it? With the Vista Lock I can set it, and it provides enough friction to keep it at speed, but for hills I can just give a bit more throttle while it is still engaged.
I'm not sure if you need to press the brake and then adjust the throttle, and then engage the Breakaway again. Just curious. |

| You can do minor adjustments without disengaging it. Most of the time I just live with the varying speed. Yes I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. We currently have near 4 feet of snow on the ground. I'm afraid I won't be riding for quite awhile. I used the throttle lock when I went to San Francisco last summer. For those of you who may be interested. There is a new motorcycle event happening in Salmon Arm British Columbia , July 13 thru 17. It is called the first annual Sturgis North. Our maxi scooter club already has 7 members signed up to go. I will be attending. If you plan on going message me and maybe we can meet up. Everyones invited. Motorbikes and scoots. |
