Hello,
I am new to this forum. At the end of March 2010, I bought a 2003 Candy Glory Red Silver Wing with 13,027 miles on it. I had spent a lot of time looking for a Silver Wing or a Honda PC800. Settled on the SW and have totally enjoyed it. I am now 65 and really enjoy the "step-thru" for getting on and the 1 gear transmission. In my 20's and 30's, I owned Harleys and enjoyed them, even riding from one ocean to the other once. But now I am not interested in waking my neighbors 4 blocks away, so the SW is just perfect for me. People don't believe I cruise the interstate highways on it.
Anyway, I live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I have been retired for 3 years, but I do work as a Walmart greeter 4 days a week. (Stop laughing!!) This little job puts gas in my airplane and pays the hangar rent. Yes, I probably do wake up people when I take off in the airplane, but, at least, not with the putt!!
Have fun and enjoy your scooters!!!
Glenn

Glenn,

After I stop laughing I would like to welcome you to the site. (just kidding). I rode a Sportster for about 4 years and liked it but my SWing is much more comfortable. But I'm sure the big Harleys are really nice on the interstate, and I still would like a Harley one day again. Please look around the site and if you have any questions we have people here to answer them.

If you get a chance you can create your own "folder' in the "Album" section and post some pics of your SWing so we can all see. If you plan to do any mods there are many of us that can help since most of us do that. Again Welcome.

Hey Glenn,

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join in. I rode Harleys for the past 40 years and I must say I'm very happy with my Silverwing. Rode this old 59 panhead for the last 20 years. Now I can't lift my leg over a bike because of arthritis. Sold it last year.

Welcome Glenn... we have a lot in common... you will get to know me more as time goes on... you have got a great scoot. I had an 03 that I wrecked on April 14th, just as you were getting yours. Loved the thing a bunch. You will too. Congratulations and welcome again.

Hi Glenn, I just sent you a PM in response to the email you sent me. Welcome to the forum! As a fellow pilot and SW rider, we share at least two wonderful things to do!

Hey Glenn,

Good to have your aboard. The best thing about these scooters is that they are easier to mount and dismount. I sometimes ride horses with my wife and I can appreciate the difference between a motorcycle style mount vs. scooter style. The Silverwing is a very capable machine and very reliable. If you are into accessorizing, check out the things that DennisB (the Harley Panhead guy above) makes. He has a lot of nice accessories for the Swing and their are lots of commercial items as well to help you customize the bike to your liking. Happy Swinging! Ron
