Subject: Had to check the belt! Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:05 pm
Hi All,
After Hammy's belt breaking I figured it was time to look at the old belt....And it looked like brand new. I meaured it according to the Honda Manual and it had plenty to go. My SWing has only a little over 10.5 K on it...but I just needed to look. I took a movie of the belt in action:

That's neat! BTW, once you replace one belt, it becomes totally ingrained. I had ZERO problem taking everything off tonight. Everything but my belt has arrived so I figured I might as well put my sliders in (with some Blaster dry lube on the ramps) and also add my mirror extenders. That whole final gear oil is also something I think I will need to do (the discussion has been very helpful)... anything else you guys think I should do?
JeffR's old belt looks just like it did when I got it last week. I have a feeling maybe my belt might've gotten dry rot?

Dry rot or sun exposure.

BTW, my Digiwrench is pretty neat! I powered it with my bike's outlet, and it loosened the bolt on the variator in 3 bangs. I'll have to figure out a way to sort out all my tools... space is a premium, but after one of my riders had a mishap today (her Harley slipped in gravel and fell on her left ankle), I'm dedicating the underseat to emergency items (tools, medical gear, spare BELT!). Since my saddlebags really seemed to cut my mileage to shreds, I think I'll need a new storage solution for my back seat.

Yep that's the one. It's pretty neat and fairly small... I really like the way you can just program in the torque settings! It has to spin for a bit to build up momentum before cutting loose with a bang. Works a little differently but worked great for me.
