Garmin 660 tether Empty
PostSubject: Garmin 660 tether   Garmin 660 tether I_icon_minitimeTue Sep 07, 2010 12:05 pm

The Garmin Zumo 660 does not come with any tether points.

I purchased my Garmin Zumo 660 two months ago.

I have read that the Zumo 660 has occasionally slipped out of the mount. If you caught the Zumo 660 you were lucky, otherwise it could be permanently damaged.

I temporarily tethered the Zumo with a multi-stranded heavy duty thread tied around the rubber boot for headphones till I found a more permanent solution.

I created a tether with

1) Cable tie base ( http://www.lowes.com/pd_292685-1781-45-1MBUVL_0_?productId=3128405&Ntt=cable+tie&Ntk=i_products&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?newSearch=true$Ntt=cable%20tie$y=0$x=0 )

2) Key ring (large enough to lay flat when stored )

3) Small Black Diamond Carabiner ( http://www.rei.com/product/798833 )

I attached the cable tie base to back of the Garmin Zumo 660 non-removal panel above the speaker then attached the key ring to cable tie base.

The carabiner is used to attach/detach the key ring to a cord that is wrapped around the ram mount base.

Now if my Zumo 660 slips out of the base, it will not fall to the ground.
