Hi All, I arrived in Melb this last Wednesday to a wet arrival. The Qld weather has joined up with the north Western Australian rain front and has been drenching all the eastern states. Lucky we did no t drive here as the Victorian approaches were subject to flooding.
This is a sad time for the Queenslanders, and I am sure many areas of NSW will also become seriously affected.
On the plus side much of this flood water will find its way through to the dry centre at Lake Eyre, which will be teeming with all sorts of birdlife and other aquatic creatures. This is not a common occurence and the desert will change its face. Any tourists visiting this area during the active wetlands should find it exciting so if you are planning to visit Oz keep your eyes open for the best time to get here.
Apparently Perth is now the only capital city still in a serious drought and still hot.
When I get back home I will need to invest some time in repairs and servicing the SWing before I can ride it.
Catch you all later for another epistle of the travels.

Thanks, Kurt - take care.
My cousin lives in Brisbane, quite near the river.
I haven't heard how he is but he's lived in Aus since 1954 and has been 'big' in Scouting for all those years so is probably coping OK.

Edit.
Just phoned my sister (who always knows the gossip) and he's on dry ground although was without power for 24 hours.

Take care - buddy. Your country is large and diverse, but times like these make it seem small and the suffering unites folks in great ways.
