| I've been thinking about a KLR650 for a few months now, so I can maybe do some off road exploring. As it is, I have to ride a mile and a half off road to get to pavement, and I've gotten pretty good at it, and I've trained the Swing to take it in stride, but there's no way I would set out to travel any real distance off road with it. The KLR appeals to my fantasy of a bike that's long distance highway worthy, and also able to turn easily down any forest road or reasonable mountain track I might come across. We'll see.
Glad you enjoyed your forest road adventure. |

| The KLR650 is a nice bike I was thinking of one for a stablemate for my Goldwing when I bought the SW instead. There have been times I'd still like the KLR. |

| I keep looking locally, as well as online/ebay/bikefinds, etc. I have it in mind that I might find a great deal on an older model with relatively low miles on it and in good shape. It's a fantasy at the moment. Not sure I can manage the cost of owning two bikes anyway. Then also, I'd need one with the lowering links, since they are very tall bikes and I'm not, and I'd want to be able to get my feet planted on the ground.
It provides some amusement/diversion just looking around. I've sat on a couple of them, never ridden one.
(Sorry if this is hijacking the original thread. Not my intent. I'll stop if it is.) |
