Hello fellow Scooters. I’ve been lurking around these Silverwing forums for a long time now, but just never got around to joining one….until now. I’ve learned a lot just surfing around the different topics here and figure I can learn even more by joining and getting to know some of you on here. There appears to be a lot of knowledge online here.

About me~ I’ve been riding for 35 years now. I’ve owned a few different brands over the years including Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, BMW and HD. I’ve always had at least one bike in the garage, with a high of four at one time. I got hooked on scooters about 10 years ago when I bought a Honda Helix just for fun. It did everything I wanted a motorcycle to do. But then the wifey wanted to tag along more & more, so I sold the Helix and bought a used 2002 Silverwing about 7 years ago with 5,500 miles on it. It’s more comfortable for her and the extra hp means it’s still a fun ride for me. I also own a 2006 HD Ultra Classic.

I found my Swing at local dealer already outfitted with a Givi windscreen and top box. It also has the Utopia backrest and some aftermarket running lights. I will hit 20,000 miles on my next tank of gas. Thanks to recommendations of several riders here on this site, I just ordered a set of Pirelli Diablos. My first attempt at my own maintenance therefore will be to remove the wheels and then have a shop in town actually mount the tires. The link on this site lays out the procedure very clearly, and I also purchased the shop manual.

Thanks for the "welcome" guys. I removed both front and rear tires tonight without a hitch. The step-by-step instructions found on this site were exactly right.....except I had to get a 15" breaking bar, and then add another 24" cheater bar on the end of that, just to break that 27mm axle bolt loose!! But both wheels are now ready for the new Pirelli rubber!
