Hiya

I'm collecting my 3rd SilverWing on March 10th, black with 22,000 miles on the clock. Honda top box and Oxford heated grips fitted. Leg wind deflectors.

I've been bikeless for about 2 years, since my last SilverWing's engine seized.

I love the SW and wouldn't ride anything else. I moved from the UK to Gibraltar (and back) on my last one. I can probably carry more luggage etc on the SW, than my daughter can carry in her boot (Trunk I think you call it in the US) of her Mini

My first SW was a 2004 model, I wrote that off when I crashed, my last one was a 2007.

My next one is the 1st one that I've had with ABS. Can't wait to get back on the road again.

Jock

Hello and welcome.

I enjoy my rides through the New Forest; I have a circular route starting from home in Salisbury, taking in a rather nice farm/tea shop about 10 minutes from the end of the ride.
It's only an hour or so but it's a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Welcome. I gather with that moniker you're from Scotland. Beautiful country. I've seen some of it recently and would love to have an opportunity to ride there some day.

This is the best site on the web for Silverwing maintenance, accessories and modifications. Lots of interesting people and archived information. All at your fingertips.

Glad you joined. Look forward to seeing your posts.

Thanks very much for the welcome.

@MikeO The New Forest is very nice, but you need to watch out for the suicidal cows when you're going through Beaulieu, they watch for you and wait till their just in front of you before stepping out in the road.

It was the ponies invading the camp-site that caused the panic in 1968 when my friends and I drove down from London to camp in the Forest for the first time!
Those were the days when one could stop anywhere and pitch a tent; we chose Stoney Cross.

Jock, you are among like-minded people here and we all talk SWing all the time. Some of us have other rides too, but the SWing has a special place in the barn.
Welcome.
Jay.

Hiya Gustafa

Thanks

It wasn't a fault of the bike that the engine seized. It was due to a lack of maintenance and 150 miles a day commute, 7 days a week for about 2 months and also down to the fact that I'm mechanically dyslexic. It won't happen with this SW though. I'm going to treat it like a baby.

The forest is lovely, as long as you avoid the horses, cows and donkeys that roam freely. They also let pigs roam the forest in the autumn for a couple of months, to eat the acorns.

Welcome to the best SWing forum on the net JockTheScot! Lots of information and help with SWing problems here. I have a 2008 SWing that I'm anxiously waiting for spring to get here so I can start my third season with it. Although, tomorrow, 2-27-16, is supposed to get up to around the mid 50's so it looks like a ride after all.

Just a quick update. I collected my bike yesterday and I must say that I am very disappointed.

The paperwork and the bike were all in excellent order.
Why was I disappointed? I could not haggle any money off the asking price as there was nothing at all wrong.

As a Scotsman that left me distraught.

The seller a warrant officer in the Army gave me a nice bottle of wine and a European headlight for the SW. He had it on the bike while stationed in Germany.

Rode the bike back  85 miles of motorway and A road and it was purring like a pussy cat.

welcome welcome

It's great that everything worked out...except of course for any discount. I still miss my SWing at times even though I enjoy my CTX700. The SWing was very smooth and the storage was great, not to mention the weather protection either. But congrats on your SWing and hope you really enjoy it like the others you have had.
