| Hi, two queries:
I'm getting a strange low pitch mechanical noise on start up from belt housing. The noise starts to go as scoot warms up, and when hot has gone completely - could this be belt noise? Belt has only 9.5K on it, but is probably from new (8 years old). I'm about to install Dr Pulley sliders, so am now thinking about replaceing belt at same time if there is a problem with it.
Also, does anyone know what size the two variator holes for the locking tool are? - I'm going to make my own tool.
Many thanks. |

| Hi, squasher! I made the variator tool this weekend and replaced the belt, so the recollection is current. Hopefully I'm answering the right question, but the small holes in the variator (guess that's the right word) accept quarter inch, or roughly 6 millimeter, hardware rather nicely.
I used two two-inch carriage bolts with flat washers and self-locking nuts, which cost all of 81 cents at Ace Hardware. Everything else (tools, wood) was already available in my garage. My Silver Wing is a 2002 model that I purchased last year. Your plan to replace the eight year old belt is a good one, in my opinion. |
