| I have been hearing a squeaky type noise (almost like a rattle)coming from the rear of the bike. It seems to make the noise when I am riding at high speed (60-70 mph). Its very hard to hear, and I think I only hear it when I turn my head and lean back. Im not that familur with what is on the left side rear of the bike, but I have already replaced the rear tire and did not see anything glaring. Is it possibly a belt squeak? My bike definatly makes a squeaking noise when I start out, and I assumed that was belt, but now its making a noise at high speed. strange. No loss of power and it does not feel like a slip but who knows. Anyone else have anything like it before? |

| Do a search on here 'belt squeal' and you will be surprised how much info on noises there is.
In the past we have done 'noises' to death. Seams all 'Wings' suffer from squealing at some stage. |

| Your belt is glazed. I just did this. Hold the bike upright.... grab the left brake as tight as you can...... run the throttle at 4000 rpm while you are at a stand still... for as long as you dare. 20 seconds is a very long time doing this. Try it for 10 seconds.... then give it a ride and see. If it improves...perhaps you need to do it again.

In addition to Larry's good advice which will/should clear the problem. To avoid future reoccurrence, when moving away from stand still, try accelerating fast. Lots of throttle, release brake and go. It will have the same effect as above. JeffR posted this fix a few years ago and I have used it since. It works. |
