Will application of the left brake lever ONLY be sufficient to activate the ABS braking system? When applying both brake levers can you tell (and if so, how) when the ABS system kicks ON and when it kicks OFF? When travelling down the road (assume good weather conditions and good road surface) at a good clip - can you apply the brakes (hard) until the ABS system engages - then countersteer around a road obstacle (you can do this in cars - not sure about MC's) while continuing to hold a firm pressure on the brakes?

ABS is activated by the rotation of the wheels (or lack of) regardless of which brake lever you use. It shouldn't be apparent, steering around an obstacle isn't reliant on ABS, all ABS does is prevent your wheels from locking up, therefore preventing a slide or skid.

Dimond there is a plethora of ABS info on 'google'.

The system is in very basic terms a method of stopping without the wheels locking up. You can feel when ABS is activating by a pulsing sensation felt through the bike/handlebars.

The new systems use electronics to sense rotation. In the good ole days, it was a ball bearing sat in a 'U' shaped race. The ball bearing was the modern day micro chip! Smile

Braking hard may not activate the ABS, severe hard braking 'should'.

Just treat ABS as a tool and not the 'be and end all' of getting one out of the guano! (Can I say guano?) Twisted Evil
