| hi everyone thought i would just post to say , I have just bought my first silverwing fjs 600 one owner with minor damage on the front fairing . It has covered 53000 miles ona 56 plate 8.5k per year . Due to a few health issues i am selling my vfr800 so I do hope i have made the right choice and decision . Your opinions would be very gratefully recieved as to power delivery top speed and comfort etc . Any issues i should look out for how often should i service the bike etc etc . anyways I am looking forward to being part of the group. |

| Welcome derekj, what part of the UK do you reside? Alway rode maxi scooters so cannot compare with what your expectations are from the 'Wing'. As a ride, the power delivery is smooth, I have found the 'Wing' will make most big wheelers look twice when the throttle is opened. "Real" (sic), motorbikes will generally beat you top end but for a big scooter it is both comfortable and gives a good performance. Servicing is every 4,000 miles. with the belt requiring changing every 16,000 miles. A good search of the topics on here will answer most questions but please feel free to ask. We don't as a rule bite!!! |

Otherwise if you ride conservatively you may get in excess of 55 mpg! I personally like to ride as they say, like it's my last ride! |

| Welcome to the forum, derekj. For perspective, I have had my FSC600 up to 100MPH (US) and (though not at those speeds) routinely get 50MPG during the warm months and about 45MPG during the colder months (I ride year round, even at 20F outside). I typically carry a backpack with me (in the under-seat trunk) with two laptops. As soon as I can get DennisB to make me a hitch, I will be able to pull my Harbor Freight Tag-Along trailer too. About the only thing I don't like about my bike is the lack of hazard lights. Again, this forum comes to the rescue by showing us how to mount your own, also with DennisB's help. Happy scooting. KB |

| Hi "derekj", Welcome... Yes, this is the place to be for Silver Wingers. All the info you'll ever need is around here somewhere. So, as has been said before, don't be afraid to ask... even tho we don't normally bite, I've heard that "Waspie" likes to 'nibble' every now and then . Anyway, do yourself a favor and search out a Honda maintenance manual. It's an invaluable tool when all else fails. Also, the search function on this site will give you tons of info too. So... enjoy! |

| Hello Derekj,
Silverwing more than capable at the speeds you mention though you may want to consider gettin a better screen. The standard screen will wobble all over the place at anything over 60mph. I fitted a Givi AF214 Airflow onto mine - adjustable height and solid as a rock.
Please put your location in your profile so that everyone can see where you are from. Makes it a lot easier when people are talking about specs, laws etc.
Cheers, |
