Today I drove 425 miles round trip, to buy a pristine 1994 gold Wing 1500cc as my long distance bike, that was being sold by a man that bought it from a (collector) in Ariz. Through Craig s list. I thought I was buying a GREAT bike at a great price.
It felt like a Friken tank! The speakers in front, were dried out and hanging, and the rear not working.
Because it had carbs, that had not been touched in years, it did not idled for more than 2 min with out the choke on and died and I had to restart it 6 times with the choke on at 85 deg? What the Hell?
I noticed a slight cam shaft-cham? noise at about 2300 RPM that alloyed me.
I took it out on the freeway for about 20 miles and never felt like the shoe fit.

I thanked him for his time and the ride but when I got home, wrote him a nasty email copping exactingly what the Websters described as Pristine.
As soon as I arrived home, I bent over and kissed my wonderful Silverwing and told him I would never leave him again, no matter what or for any other bike. alien beamed up

:lol!: Your Silverwing wiill forgive, but it won't forget. Be careful on those long rides from home at night.

As a long-time Goldwing rider who recently bought a Silverwing on a whim, I can only say "Hate the liar, not the poor, neglected bike".

That Goldwing was 18 years old, probably had maintence needs that were negelected. I have had many goldwings, about 7 so far, got a Silverwing couple of years ago, both are great but fill different needs.

I would love to buy a Gold Wing, but I wouldn't buy anything older than the 2001 update, with fuel injection. I have had too much trouble with old bikes and carbs. I am hoping to find one in yellow, fully loaded, with not too many miles on her.
