Yesterday, Robert and I took a ride down to southern Arizona to check out the above. Organ Pipe cacti are plentiful in Mexico but this is the only area in the US where they are found in any numbers!
We stopped for a break here at the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range. This is a bombing range. It is primarily used for air-to-ground bombing practice by United States Air Force pilots flying A-10s from Davis-Monthan AFB, F-16s from Luke AFB and Tucson Air National Guard Base, and Marine Corps pilots in F/A-18s and AV-8B Harriers from MCAS Yuma.
Beginning of the Monument!
Here is the Visitor Center at the National Monument.
I had to take a picture of this Motel in Gila Bend. Quite interesting, the theme is a bit strange for a place out in a little jerkwater town in the middle of the desert!
On the way home this is some of the country I ride in! Our ride was beautiful, quite a bit of wind at times but the SWings did fine. I put 336 miles on mine not sure what Robert ended up at for the ride.
