| Hi,
If anyone received sometype of email from my AOL account it is probably because it was hacked. I received a PM from a member saying that he received something from my aol account.
So if you see anything I'm sorry for this but I have no idea how this could have happened. I really don't know enough about how accounts can be hacked. But aol had me change my password and they think this will prevent this in the future. It has never happened to me before either.
So if you get anything, like a 'message was returned" or something funny please just delete it.
Sorry,
JeffR |

| Just got my credit card statement. Talk about being hacked!! Someone tried to charge over $23,000 on my card . Two large charges were refused but they still successfully got over $3500 merchandise charged to me. Reported it to police and Credit Card fraud division and all is taken care of.(I hope) Best part is: I only use my card about 2-3 times a month and it never leaves my person. . |

| Hi JeffR, Have been thru this hacking thing before; even my wife and other family members. The most widespread thing we've seen is someone hacking into our accounts and sending out advertisements for weight reduction programs of all things. Like you, Yahoo told us to change our passwords. Seems to have worked okay. Guess we'll have to keep changing every now and then to avoid it in the future. |

| In my working life I was a security administrator. We required monthly password changes, and kept a history of the most recent 10 or so that could not be reused. It seemed to work pretty well.
Now that I'm retired, unfortunately, I don't follow my own advice as well as I should.

| I have been hacked a few times, along with my family and friends. It's getting quite common.
They get a hold of your address book and send out garbage e-mail. Most of the time without a subject just a link. I have been more careful about reading carefully what your about to click on even though it is from someone you know. If it doesn't sound like something your friend would send you or if you have any doubts delete it.
Call or e-mail them a separate e-mail. Don't forward the same hacked e-mail. Sometimes they get by you when you are tired or going through a lot of e-mails. |

| I've had a couple of emails where the sender's name and the subject have been the same. Easy to spot as they were in CAPITAL letters so they stand out like a sore thumb. Contacted the senders (by phone) and advised them to change their password. I know it is a pain in the backside but you should change your password on a monthly basis, the changes can be subtle, for instance, if my password this month was 'tarmacburner2-32013' then next month it would be 'tarmacburner2-42013' - it is easy to remember the month and year (plus it can't repeat itself). Cheers, |
