| I just did a belt change and now my throttle takes a long time to spin back freely on its own, I have to manually close it. Before I take it apart again any one have any suggestions. This all happened after my belt broke while riding.. Bike only has 7k miles but is an 05. |

| With little information -
Did you have the bike transported to a location after the belt broke? If so, did that transport involve a tie-down strap on the throttle grip?
If the answer to both questions is yes, then look to see if the rubber grip on the throttle is 'binding' against the bar end weight. if it is, simply slide it away from the bar end weight and see how that works. |

| Yes to both and thanks that worked.. Saved me a lot of work and headache. But it was stuck on the inner side not the side of the bar weight. Strapping the bike must of caused the grip to move to the left some. If I peel it out just a little it spins freely. Now I just need to figure a way to push the grip to the right some. |

| A blast of compressed air can help if you have the facility. |

Good news, and you're welcome. I've seen it go that way as well. It can be time consuming to move the grip, just stay with it. Best wishes. |

| I think you are now trying to move rubber hand grip? Long thin screwdrive, lube with WD 40---slide screwdriver down on throttle barrel, squirt---grip will come off---then wash grip in dish soap, clean throttle barrel with gas or similar-----to hold grip on I use rubber cement or there is even grip cement out there, some people use hair spray, gas has worked.
Idea get grip on so it doesn't slip----requires quick work to slide on and position where you want
Next time bike to be hauled use upper fork tubes---"Quick Ties" help. I would use four point tie down, and parking brake as there is no"in gear". |

| Does anyone have a picture of a bike tied by the fork tubes, as John suggests? Sounds like a great idea, but I have never seen it done that way. |

| jdeereanton...thanks very much..Just had this problem of the throttle not returning and sticking on...didnt know what to do...until I read your post. I had recently transported my Scooter by trailer tieing the front end with a canyon dancer.(where did they get that name from?) Fixed problem in 5 minutes... A simple solution to a simple problem...but only simple when you know! thanks again. |
