Hey guys, I know that the engine should be warmed up for an oil change. What does the final drive oil change need? I figure since I can't ride today, I'd do some maintenance on the bike. Thanks.

Did you see the pictorial JeffR did? It's in pdf form and there are lots of ideas from other members. Check it out.

| No need to warm it up --unless it's pretty darn cold in your garage. "Room temp" is good enough. Just drain & refill. Use the same oil as you use in the engine, and put it in using a syringe.

Thanks, Tim. Just what I was looking for. I've seen the pics by Jeff too. Very informative.

Just got it done. Had to improvise the delivery tool. Used the inner straw inside a squirt bottle and the syringe from the vet when my dog was prescribed allergy meds. It came with a flexible length of plastic tubing, which mated perfectly with the straw. It took me a while because the syringe was only 10 ml, and it took about 25 refills; didn't have anything else to play with this afternoon. In all fairness I think the PO had this item serviced not too long ago: oil was green and fairly clear. But my PoM is worth the trouble.

The 'oil can' from Harbor Freight works great - but not sure if you have Harbor Freight near you.

There are other auto supplies stores but a big one is opening soon. Will be interesting to see its inventory. I am frequently in Calais, Me, but it is a small town and only has a Wally.
