| Hi,
I just got home from the Honda shop with my new CTX700 DCT. I traded my SWing in for it today. It took longer than expected but it is finally here. As soon as I took off I was surprised that it just took off. I am so used to my SWing where it takes until 2200 rpms. I'm just glad there wasn't a car in front of me because I would have hit it.
I will write something up later but I have only put about 5 miles on it so far. I know I put this in the "Other Scooter" subject so I hope the mods don't ban me for putting this in the wrong place.

| Robert really likes his except for the lack of storage! We rode 200+ miles today and he bought some stuff and I had to haul it home in my SW!!!! He has a top box and bags coming that should fix that problem!!!
Enjoy your new ride Jeff! |

| Hi,
I just rode 100 miles today going to my daughters volleyball game and it ran great. It is very smooth and the DCT is a really cool thing. I avg'd 60 mpg but I will keep testing it since the mechanic may not have filled it up all of the way. Like the SWing the gas pump will shut off but you can always put more into it. I will write up more after more miles and keeping track of the mpg.
And also I will post pics too but I'm just too tired after sitting on bleachers all day. |

| Very nice choice, Jeff. I see they only come in red, so no point asking about colour. Did you get any accessories, like saddle bags, etc? Enjoy! |

| Terry,
No, I haven't got any assessories yet but I am going to get the back carrier so I can put a top case on it. I won't get the saddle bags since the top case will be able to fit the helmets and jackets I think. |

| Hi,
I just came back from a short 30 mile ride on some nice 45 mph country road and it is pretty cool. This DCT transmission is very smooth and when you give it throttle you move instantly. There is no hesitation whatsoever and it takes off quicker than I thought it would. There is also a lot of torque with this bike. I'm still learning the transmission but when it is in D (drive) it is a mellower ride for the interstate, from what I read, and gives the best mileage.
When in (D) I can use the manual and downshift or upshift. I have also read, but not tried it yet, is that when in manual you can hold a gear until read line. When in Sport (S) it keeps the rpms up a bit and it seems to ride nicer in the city in (S). It is a very smooth bike and takes the curves very nice. I can't wait to get my Cee Bailey windshield though. I ordered the 23" with the vent and can't wait to get it on. The Swing was great at protection and this is like a sport bike with the small screen. I went about 110 miles yesterday on the interstate and when I filled it up I got right at 60 mpg but I don't think the mechanic filled it up all the way when they gave it to me. But many are getting over 65 mpg and some up to 75 mpg, so I will see.
But so far I really like this bike and it is comfortable and has a deeper, throaty, sound that is much different than the SWing. But when I hit a bump or pothole it will feel like the SWing hitting a pothole but when on a decent road it is smoother riding than the SWing. But I do miss my Swing but I had it for 7 years and it is nice to have a new toy. |

| Hi Jeff, Every time I go to my Honda dealer I put a leg over a CTX and dream. You made IMHO a great choice for a new bike. From what I can tell from others who have the CTX is that they are much more stable than the SWing when cornering - guess this is due to a more rigid frame and bigger wheels with stiffer front forks. Wondering if there are some after market wind deflectors for the legs - as I do like my SWing lower leg protection from the elements. Enjoy and ride safe! |

| Jerry,
It is a cool bike and is a bit more stable than the SWing. But it also could be because it is brand new and my SWing was 7 years old. I'm sure the larger wheels help a bit too. I'm still trying to find out what afternoon I can get off this week to give you that thing you wanted. |

| I want the new CTX1300T. It uses a V4 engine from the ST-1300, detuned for more midrange grunt, and it has shaft drive. No DCT trans, but I don't care. But as they say, "money talks and BS walks." |

| Lookin' good! It was nice when I had a 1800cc six cylinder engine under me but when you get down to it the 600-700cc range really is plenty for normal riding and touring. It wasn't all that long ago that a 750cc bike was a pretty big one. I'm interested in the Honda 700 series of bikes, I really like my BMW scooter but if I get the urge for another motorcycle I think I'm going to look real hard at the Honda 700cc twins. I'm not planning on getting rid of the BMW but there might be room for one more bike in the garage. As long as it's smaller than the GW was. |

| It's too bad they don't bring the Integra to the states. I love this new bike with the DCT and think that the Integra would be more powerful since they only make it in the 750cc size now. My CTX has much better acceleration, I think, than the Swing. I think it is due to more torque and take off is immediate. And since they increased the cc to 750 on the NC and Integra they have more power.
The SWing has much better weather protection, storage, and is extremely comfortable on the interstate. I think they will have to bring the Integra over once all of the SWings that are available are sold. I have 2 tanks of interstate riding and got 60 mpg and my 3rd tank was 70% interstate and 30% 45-55 mph roads and got 64 mpg. I hear people who ride the 45 mph roads are getting 70 mpg with these bikes and the NC's are about 5 mpg better. |

I have a Silver NC700X.
But i would not mind having a CTX too, but that would mean i would probabley have to get rid of one of my other bikes.
Now which one must go to make room. |

| Honda did a GREAT!! thing with The 700 series.
Very well engineered bike(s) series.
The long service interval is very nice, gas mileage is amazing, for a 700 size bike, that has as much power as it does.
It is Not anemic, power wise what so ever.
My NC7 and you CTX7 have more power than either your old Silverwing or my Burgman 650.
the 700 series has such a light feel while riding it.
I cant imagine that the CTX1300 (724lbs wet weight) would feel as nice LIGHT of a feel as the 700 (472lbs wet weight) series does.
I can turn my NC7 around in the middle of a narrow two lane country road with ease and room to spare.
Also the 700 series, 2cyl. parallel twin has only ONE throttle body, no more sync'ing induction system, with this bike.
Only thing I wish Honda would have done.
1. Hydraulic Valve lifters, to get rid of valve adjusting altogether, relatively low 6500rpm redline, they could have done it. But 8k mile interval, is not too bad I suppose, it is better than my 83' GL1100 Goldwing. 2. low maintenance final drive.
Those couple of things and it would have been a master piece

| westgl,
I am kind of surprised at the extra power and torque compared to the SWing I had. But what I am really surprised at is how well balanced the bike it and the way it takes the twisties. The gas mileage is nice too. I looked at the NC as well but my wife thought the CTX would be a bit more comfortable for her and easier to get on. I would love to have the fake tank as storage too. |

| Yes the 700 series has a torquey engine for sure.
The weight is SOOOOOO LOW! in the chassis that it feels more like a much smaller, lighter, bike when riding through the twisties, and handling sharpe turns.
the ST1300 is more top heavy, do to the more vertical cylinders, moving the weight much higher.
I would think the CTX1300 would have the similar top heavyness.
But the CTX700 cylinder/engine/trans mass is very low, and make for a very balanced package.
Yet the weight for the 700 series is there and makes the bike feel rock solid.
Enjoy the new 700 series, and ride safe |
