| Some people can't ride a motorcycle without a place for their coffee cup. I watched me do it. Lets see your cup holder configuration. This should help our new members if they want a cup holder. If you don't like cup holders, maybe you should tell us why you don't like cup holders. This would help convert some of us who use them every day. I like to use ram mounts for my GPS and phone. |

| I had a Ram cup holder on my ST 1100 but I removed it after it flew through the air when I hit a pothole in France ! It took me twenty minutes to find the pieces in the long road-side grass. The pivots for the gimbal are not very secure. |

| I've never seen the point of fitting a cup holder or wanting to slurp a mug of hot coffee while riding. I'm not against taking a hot drink with me when I go for a ride and when I occasionally do it's in a Thermos flask or a Contigo travel mug carried in the top box. I'll have the drink when I stop somewhere not when riding. I'm never that desperate for hot coffee anyway as as we have a very good Krups bean-to-cup coffee machine at home, and just about any petrol/gas station cum convenience store is peddling the stuff Who really needs to drink hot tea or coffee on the move anyway, rather than keeping you hydrated both tea and coffee are diuretics and make you want to pee more often. If you want to keep hydrated in hot weather, wear a Camelbak full of iced water and take a bottle of electrolyte replacement drink like Gatorade along. Taking take regular sips of water from the drinking tube is easy to do wearing open or full face helmets. My drinking tube is insulated with a neoprene cover to keep the water in the tube from warming up on hot days, the alternative is blowing any warmed up water in the tube back into the bladder which will be replaced with cold. I can't say I've seen many cup holder on bikes in the UK, or over in Europe. When I was in France last week everyone was leisurely sipping strong black coffee in tiny white cups, not by the pint mixed with a shot of sweet syrup with a pattern on the crema. The exception to the cup holder rule is of course British Gold Wing owners who slavishly copy what they've seen in US magazines or on websites, so a cup holder seems as necessary as all the chrome tat, a teddy bear, a Stars and Stripes or Confederate flag holder, and a big fat lass sat on the back! |

Apparently you haven't ridden much in the desert southwest. If you dehydrate here confusion sets in quickly then sluggishness follows. Not good on two wheels. |

| Worked at Yuma Proving Ground.
Best carry water---real hot get off every 30 minutes. Given the low quality of riding skills in the US, paying complete attention to what is going on, I think important-----most riders in the past 40 years are MSF parking lot trained, rider's test waived. |

When Mrs M and me were driving in Arizona last year we carried and drank plenty of bottled water but even inside an A/C car it was always warm as we didn't have a cool box. A cup holder carrying a bottle of water on a scooter is heat up even quicker, and I doubt carrying a hot beverage in your favourite coffee mug is of much use either. |

| I agree that trying to open a cap on a bottle is a little dangerous, their for I use an insulated Butler cup with a straw, others use a Camelback. I open my chin bar, drink and close, It's all about safety. I can fill the cup ride for a few hours, stop re soak my evaporative gear and replenish the drinking water with what I carry in the side case get back on and finish the trip. If I had to stop every 30 min. I would probably re think my mode of transportation. |

| I'm for cup holders and hydration. Here in Southern Arizona its important. Its also 60 miles between stops.
If you haven't grown up by the time you're 60, you don't have to!
Thanks for that Winger61, now I know, I'm exempt. Wait till I tell the wife, IM sure she will understand! |

| I like to stop in at a fast food place or gas station to get a cup of coffee on the way to work. Putting the cup in a holder inside a tankbag or in a holder within the trunk often leads to spills. I would like to know where to find a decent cup holder can be found. |

| Yeah, I have looked, searched, and googled before. The problem is that all of these motorcycle cupholders are made for bikes/cruisers that are equiped with undisguised handle-BARS. On the silverwing there are plastic covers on the steering that prohibits the use of any cup holder that I have found. |

| Use a RAM mount - that negates the handlebar shroud problem. |

| They make a ram ball that attaches to the top of your brake reservoir. In fact you can get one with multiple balls if you are so inclined. That should solve your problem if you want them on the handlebar.
