| I couple of months back I dropped the Wing at very low speed, approx 10 mph. I took it in to be repaired by a Honda dealer.
Here's a few pics of the damage. For a bit of fun have a guess what the total bill came to?

| OK...My guess would be about $2300.00 and that's with labor and new honda parts.

| Someone at the Dealership dropped my Swing (which is why I got such a good price on it) and the damage seems similar to what your pictures show. I would guess that the parts were around $850 and the labor about $650 for a total of about $1,500.00. |

| Since it's just a guess... I'll say $3000. They really get carried away some times. |

| OK, the bill came in at £1644 or in your money US$2700. And for that the dealer took over a month to get the parts, had the bike in the workshop for over a week and managed to scratch (ok only minor/cosmetic) the glove box lids (not part of repair). But the best bit is after having the bike in they rang me up saying 'ah we are missing the belly pan panel, it will take another week and a half to get it. Please come and collect your bike and drop it back in when we have the part!'
Great Honda service here in these parts!!! |

| I had an accident in the parking lot of one of the local restaurants a few months back, What happen was, I was making a tight “U” and I didn’t have my RPM’s up high enough and the clutch disengaged and I went over on my right side. I contacted my insurance company and they covered 100 percent of the damage to the scooter. I rode the scooter to the local Honda motorcycle dealership the next day to get an estimate of cost of repair. A week and a half later they gave me the replacement parts list with the cost per part and the labor charge. I took this list and did a little shopping on line and found a place that had all the parts for about a third off of the local shops prices. I order the parts and did the replacement myself. This worked out well for me. When the parts arrived, it only took just a few hours to do the parts replacement and I’ve been a smarter and happier scooter rider ever since. I found the price of replacement parts differed a great deal from dealership to dealership. I’m glad I did a little on line shopping. That little spill would have cost over $1600.00 to repair the scooter if I had the local dealership do it and that’s parts and labor. Ride safe and carefully, DennisB |

| Thanks for that info. My insurers only give me the choice of either their own repairer (who reading Net reviews will do it as cheaply as possible, eg repairing parts rather than replacing them) or one I choose. Obviously I went with a Honda dealer. The irony is that my initial quote of £1190 was only £100 below the write off value. As fate would have it when the dealer took off one of the panels they found some more damage to a glove box compartment and that pushed the final bill up to £1644. The insurers decided to cough up, but had this been the first quote they received they would have written off the bike. Imagine a mint bike with just over 3000 miles on it being written off with such minimal damage! |
