| Hi all I'm Joe from South Jersey and just moved up from my 2007 JCL-250MPA to a 2013 SW haven't brought it home yet still trying to get a ride (85 miles) to pick it up,might have to wait till the week-end to get there and yes they won't take my China Bomb in trade . I have read JG post today and having it up to interstate speed for a exit or two, just wondering what the break in time for these are. As you might no NJTP and our interstates drivers don't know what 55 or 65 means. Well hope to hear a few ideas on this subject Thanks Joe Ps Retired OTR driver for 42yrs... |

| I just brought home my new 2012 yesterday. For break in the manual says for the first 300 miles avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration. My hero was the tortoise not the hare so that's no problem for me and I can tell you that even without full throttle these things move right along. |

| Just take easy----roll easy to speeds you need to keep from getting run over, try back road home---new engines like varying speeds, not the highway drone.
the first 300 miles easy----drain oil/change filter---make sure nothing falling off/leaking. Ride. Your choice if you want to waste money on paying dealer to service at sometimes high price!! |

| If it's got new tyres take it carefully for the first 60 miles or so - the dressing on new tyres is comparatively slippery and needs to be worn off. |

| As an OTR driver, you know to trust the mechanics. Check fluids and air pressure before leaving dealership. Take it slow and easy. The power is there when you need it. There are a ton of pictorials here (thank you JeffR, Bigbird, and all the others) to help with basic maintenance. And, welcome to the forum. |
