| Its a shame this topic has to be brought up, but with so many strong personalities on the board, there are bound to be conflicts.
On your profile page is a tab called "Friends and Foes"
If there is someone whose posts you are adverse to reading, just put them on your Foe list.
You will not see their posts, nor will they be able to PM you.
Its that simple.

| Grey silver I just bought a sew on badge that says" Its not the destination, it's the journey".It seems sad that today we have to have a "friend or for" option. There are some topics and comments I don't always agree with but, everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I think it is better to say nothing than to get into a slanging match.Although some people do seem to take offence very easily. |

You contradict yourself by saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion but then say that you think it is better to say nothing. OK that is fine for you, but there are others that are not just going to lie down and take uncalled for disparagement. And often the people taking offense are the ones that instigate it in the first place or take it beyond what may be considered reasonable. Then the people being disparaged are rebuked and wrongly accused of making trouble when it is the other way round. Sometimes somethings and some people are just not right.

It's all about the destination for me mate, if it was just the journey I'd simply ride round the York ring road all day stopping only for fuel and comfort breaks until Mrs M called me in at bedtime. You should ignore the comments from that other bloke too. |

You should ignore the comments from that other bloke too. Ignore all comments of that other bloke or just that comment? And why should one be discouraged from reading some truth? A friend or foe option seems as a way to encourage divisiveness and to foist the false choice of only either/or and to exclude or discourage the middle ground where ideas are freely exchanged; even if not completely agreed upon. Small minds are enthralled at the singular sound of their own voices and seem threatened by the voices of others that are not in agreement with theirs. To stunt discussion is to stunt growth that would otherwise flourish. If one decides to ignore ideas not in line with their own, then that is their prerogative, but if they also exclude or not permit exchange then they are needlessly denying themselves and others of richer possibilities. It is understood that productive discussion is discussion conducted with a heaping of civility. But also, humans are expressive and impassioned beings that may from time to time exceed some arbitrary limit. These limits should not be so loose as to allow utter chaos, nor should they be so restrictive that they stifle ideas. In any exchange of contention here, the rule should be that it is permissible to attack the idea, but not the messenger. my 2 pennies |

| Everyone on here is my friend, except the ones that are foes (gotta keep an eye on them). They seem to fluctuate from day to day. |

| Saw a t-shirt a while back with the message: "Don't make me unfriend you!". I gotta wonder about the "Facebook" mentality of our global society. |

| Somewhere in a drawer I have a T shirt which I bought in Seattle much to the horror of my family. It reads 'If you don't like my attitude quit talking to me'. Perhaps I should wear it when reading the forum !!?? |

| Sun Tzu says "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer". Let's be honest, life's too short for this sort of friend/foe, friend/unfriend cr@p. We're all different, let's show some tolerance and just get on with living!
