| I have decided to leave this forum. For the following reasons. 1. Your site admins/mods are too power hungry. You use your powers to force your opinions. Colin B. You seem to be the worse, followed very closely by Dan (dspevack). 2. You jump over every one that uses "ur" for your, yet us use "ATGATT" "IIRC", "IMHO". I understood the "UR", but had to look up the others. Seem to tolerate other using language translators. No matter how versed in your language skills, I am sure that you did understand what "UR" meant. 3. Dan, your comments still bug me about using your center stand in sort ground. How you could not understand why I questioned you. Instead you jumped on me and another poster that commented about using the side stand with a puck.
When I joined in 2012, it was a great site to belong to with many good topics. Now it seems like a Gestapo site.
I bid you all ALOHA. Nuca mas. You may remove/ban my account. Just shoot for the head.

| There is a lot of good information on this forum but the personalities do get in the way. The "stiff upper lippers" have different thoughts in many areas and it tends to get hard for us "colonials".
This is the only forum I belong to that the admins tend to attack the populace. I think that the admins need to look at the big picture and keep all the information flowing. Who cares whether ur is used or you are or your? Think we are picking flyspecks out of pepper. Just my two cents. As Meldrew stated attack the POST not the POSTER. |

| I'm sick of it too.
All I see is people being as nasty as they can to one another then 'Reporting Posts' to me, expecting me to take one side or another.
The Mods have tried to maintain decent standards here but to no avail. As far as I'm concerned now anything goes - be as nasty as you like to one another but be prepared to see the whole thing fall apart.
ANARCHY RULES! OK! |

| Theres no need to be nasty to one another but it would be nice to rant about something (not someone) without getting the post removed! I can understand removing a post if its vulgar but letting someone speak their mind should be acceptable. It would be a boring world if we all had the same thoughts and ideals. Other MC forums allow guys to say what needs saying without getting their knuckles wrapped. It makes for an interesting read most times and can be entertaining! |

Really? When Jeff ran the forum, he politely PM'd any offenders, and any problem was cleared up quickly. If the polite PM'd doesn't work, what a bout a short ban, of anywhere from 3-7 days? If that doesn't work, a permanent bye-bye will. If you open this forum up to personal bashing, it will fall apart and I for one won't partake in any of that. |

| I've done that and it doesn't work, Terry.
It's all the little digs and the desire to have the last word that accumulates.
Do what you want - I no longer give a damn. |

Do what you want - I no longer give a damn. I'm going to relay to Jeff my willingness to moderate on here. I had my own forum for a year, as I'm sure most remember, and it was fun. If you've OD'd on frustration and babysitting of the masses, maybe it is time to take a step back. If so, I'm sure Jeff will understand. |

| I've told you - do what you like. It seems to have escaped everyone's notice that Jeff gave me ownership of the site. I have no doubt he can take it back but until he does I say again - I OWN SILVERWING600.
I'm not happy with the laxity that's crept in - this is no reflection on Jeff and it's down to my laxity as a moderator, letting things go by - but I determined to put a stop to the sniping and whingeing.
If you want that to carry on, so be it; I'm worn down by the sniping and whingeing. Watch the site destroy itself because, as sure as eggs are eggs, it will.
I suggest you take a look at ModernVespa and see how they deal with whingers and people who overstep the mark and then say you've been hard done-by here. |

As the owner of the site, where do you want it to go? Down the gutter and disappear, or carry on? You own Silverwing600, but you don't want to own it any more? If so, I suggest giving it back to Jeff. I know he doesn't want to see it die, and neither do any regulars on here. If I can be of any assistance, just PM me. |

| I want it to carry on of course but certainj members need to pull themselves together and remember that everyone is here under sufference AND that good manners are required in all matters.
The bigger the site gets the more conformity is required and if people can't shift their ground in harmony with that they should depart.
If members don't like the way the site is moderated they can also leave and find one more to their liking.
I was slagged off for telling a member that Text-Speak was unacceptable here- we all communicate in plain English, thank goodness, and it's my intention to keep it that way. He was pathetic enough to point out that I'd made a spelling mistake - pathetic of him. Most people make the odd error but Text-Speak? I think not. Fortunately, he's taken himself off.
I made a serious mistake regarding you, Terry, and value your support and input. |

| Hi,
I think we should all take a deep breath and just relax. It can be difficult being an owner or moderator and I understand the feelings people have here. There is 'sniping' that leads to stress on this site, as on other sites as well, but we need to get above that. I know many of us have been here for years and feel as if we know each other and say things that some look at as being disrespectful. Some here have thick-skin and others not so much.
I hope no one will leave this site because of some of the problems that have happened recently. But maybe we can limit the 'sniping' and some of us maybe could pay a bit more attention to our wording. I can never fault people who do not speak English as their primary language but do question some posts by native English speakers. Sometimes I have to re-read posts just to figure out what they are saying, and these are the native English speakers.
And maybe we can not try to over-correct others posts as well. I would hate to see members leave over simple things that can be fixed. After all, we are only talking about scooters here.
Thanks,
Jeff |

| I must admit I've recently considered leaving, but looking behind the bad feelings generated by some posters (seemingly some of the newer joiners), I feel the site still has a great deal to offer.
Ask ten people the same question, you will probably get 10 different opinions. Does that mean they are all wrong, and therefore have to be criticised, or worse? As Meldrew said, attack the post, not the poster. Would you be as nasty to the poster face to face? I think not.
IIRC, there wasn't exactly a mad rush when the request was put out for moderators. If you don't like how they 'moderate' maybe you should be doing the job.
We should go back to being the friendly forum we always were - p'raps Kurt should post more funnys to lighten the mood!!
Just my 5 cents worth.
Graham. |

| I've been publicly taken to task as well as personally PM'd by moderators for some things I've posted. Some times I was wrong, sometimes I felt that the mod was a bit thin skinned. But in the end I'm not going anywhere because I've been corrected.
While I strongly support MikeO's expectation of decent English and his stance against text speak -lest we digress into ebonics, I find it difficult to reconcile his new hands-off approach in view of his Edmund Burke quote sig line, and his loud proclimation that this is his castle.
As JeffR said, maybe we all need to step back and chill. And if moderating is becoming tiring and cumbersome then perhaps introducing another moderator to share the burden will lighten the load.
This is, by far, the best Silverwing forum going. Can we please keep,it that way.

Isn't Modern Vespa more to do with trad scooter riders with a Quadrophenia fetish who can't get their heads out of the Mods era? Like myself and quite a few other UK members you're also on another maxi forum using a forum name that's also a name of a salad, or one of the two old hecklers of the Muppets... bugger that's the name of the forum too! They have occasional flare ups on there, but no one is threatened with bans and the Moderators hardly if ever get involved. The reason for that is hardly anyone takes the stuff on there to heart or too seriously, and I doubt very much if anyone goes running to the Admin reporting posts, but you'll know that as well as I do. This isn't that forum of course, so why do you think there's a problem here? I'll hold my hand up here and admit I probably wind some members up the wrong way and I'm not the most diplomatic. Or do you think I'm trolling again? |

| Use of "correct English", what is "correct English". Do we consider Queen 's English, American English, the written English of Chaucer, Shakespeare or George Washington to be correct. English is a constantly evolving language and to a great degree we must accept that. However, text speak is a code and not a language, accepting that would be like posting in Morse code or Semaphore which may be understood by a minority, but not, I suspect, by the majority of members.
I think that anyone joining an organisation should accept the "rules" of that organisation.
Please accept my spelling of organisation with a "s",it's a "non-colonial" habit! |
