| Please will someone in the know tell me if the holes drilled in the rear spoiler for the Honda topbox mounting-plate are spaced the same as for the Givi boxes mounting-plate.
Thanks in advance.

I just installed a Givi E370 topbox but I had to purchase a SR19M rack to go along with it to fit the pre-existing marked mounting holes on the Silver Wing. The universal mounting racks won't work.

Bill Of course you had to purchase a SR19M rack, it's the correct Givi rack to fit a Monolock box on the Silver Wing. Something that's sold as "Universal" fitting or mounting usually doesn't fit anything without bending, bodging, and blood. Why'd you buy one in the first place? |

| Thanks Bill.
Thing is, I have the Honda box but really want to get the Givi, knowing I need the Givi plate. It's what I fitted when I bought my first Silverwing. I sort-of guessed the holes are the same as they're in the casting and Givi sensibly make their stuff to fit on easily but I wanted to check. |

Universal = All encompassing. Not an unreasonable assumption about suitability. |

| Why not drill new holes in the "universal" plate/mount to match the predetermined holes on the swing? I did on my Bestem universal mounting plate. Takes about 5 minutes and no bending, bodging or blood required. |

| The Givi universal plate is plastic and with square holes making it impossible to drill holes. |

Universal = All encompassing. Not an unreasonable assumption about suitability. "The Monolock case come with a universal mounting plate and were originally designed for tubular carriers.” I ’assumed' straight away it wasn't the correct plate for the Silver Wing and pointed that out to 9erfan in another topic, and I told him the correct one to buy too. For years I used the similar Givi E251 Universal Monokey plate on the big square tubular rear racks I used to fit to MZ's back in my biking days. |

Another good reason for not buying a givi… |

According to Mrs M I've got the same short term memory loss as Dorey the cartoon fish in 'Finding Nemo' but... As far as I remember (no text speak here folks!) the square holes or honeycomb in the Givi universal plate are to put the bolts through when you're fixing it to the rails of a tubular rack. Then all you have to do is align it, put the clamps and nuts on the bolts poking out under the rack and tighten them up. Which is completely irrelevant as you've now got the correct Monolock rack for the Silver Wing. |
