| Hi,
I was just on the .org site and saw that John not only restructured his site but also is not allowing new members. I think they haven't had a useful post in over 1 month. I can only access his site from work since he tracks members IP addresses and if he bans you from his site he also bans your IP address. |

| Interesting. That information leaves me wondering what good is a website where you are the only member?

That's funny. This could be the last post on the forum by the owner, John Gordon: I've removed the new user registration option and will stop all new posts at some point. The forum will still be available with all its useful content. Thanks to all the supporters over the 10 years and hope all the trouble makers snap their transmission belt. Sad Honda haven't updated the Silver Wing but I suppose it is a niche market with low sales. Cheers, John. |

| Jeez, I wonder who those "troublemakers" might be...folks with differing opinions?
Interesting method of forum management; ban all the contrary opinions and close the forum to new members/new ideas. Isn't this the same Head up your A$$ management style that put Sears in the place it's in? From the #1 retailer with the tallest building in the nation down to a pathetic has been no longer even warranting mention in the financial news.

One of those troublemakers would have been me. All I can say to John Gordon is, I've got shaft drive now, so too bad for you. ( Comment deleted by moderator since it is not right to talk about a banned member without them not being able to defend themselves JeffR) |

| I have had my head down with my business for the past couple of months and have not had a chance to ride much at all.................let alone post to the site.
I'm not sure if I'm one of the great unwashed at this juncture (a member in full standing or one outstanding.........in the rain) but over the past 3 to 4 years I have enjoyed your previous oversight Jeff...............read numerous interesting and informative comments of the Silverwing and made changes based on others path finding so my thanks to all who shared their expertise.
I have enjoyed Kirk's sense of humor and a few others .............and been surprised and annoyed when certain members take great umbrage when new members dare try to ask a question without giving the secret handshake......turn around 3 times and recite the Roberts Rules of Order.............or be told to stand in the corner until dawn when a full Court Marshall would proceed complete with removal of all insignia .......... drums abeating as you are marched out the gate..............not this forum's finest hour I opine...........so here's the thing................I enjoyed reading up on bike issues on this and that and did not feel the need to interject to run up my points total...........but that doesn't mean I was not keenly interested in the site.........but now ironically one must be politically correct to be worthy as a rider on this site ........... I imagine that will free up some elbow room in the club house. Keep the rubber side down all, Easy that's something I

| Hi all, Well, I'm kinda' wondering where "EasyRider" is heading... Looks like he didn't get the entire message entered. Anyway, hope he's not leaving us... at least not for the reasons it appears he's writing about. Hope I"m not way out on a limb here; maybe I just don't understand and should wait for a finish to his statement. Still, if he "is" leaving for the stated reasons, then I really don't care. If a certain amount of decorum, common sense, and courtesy can't be adhered to in order to maintain a cordial Silver Wing site then - - - PHOOEY !!! I say goodbye to such individuals. Still, I do hope I'm wrong. |

| My point of posting this was not to cause trouble but to inform that a site, which was the best site on the internet for the Silver Wing, may be no more. I have said before in posts that the only reason I started this site was due to the fact that the silverwing.org and maxi-scoots.com site both went down at the same time. It just so happened that when I started this site that the .org site owner became very jealous of this site and people on it.
I was promoting that site and would include links to his site because of the info. But he would not allow anyone to link to his site. I have also always been supportive of the other sites and have posted their links throught the years. So I hope I didn't start anything since it was not my intention. I have given this site up 2 times since I have owned it. The first time to Bill, but he just left one day, never to return. The 2nd time to MikeO. I gave this site up 2 times since I just didn't have the time to run it like I wanted to and family comes first in my life.
I'm surprised that no one has posted on his site to support him to keep his site open. He has a lot of good info there. And for those that don't know, our mod here "Dan", made that site the best on the web but he was shown the door as well. John had a great site and it is sad to see it's demise even though he won't let me on that site. |

I'm not. Sometimes people come to a site to find information. Sometimes its to be the authority and/or share information they have learned. I'm pretty sure that everyone there has found this site too. No need to support that site if this site has the same info. No need to support that site when you will have a bigger audience to share info with here. John created that website as a demo site for his personal business. We made it what it became, and it returned to what it started as when we left. He sold his wing years ago and has no loyalty to it. It now serves no other real purpose except for his business. Dan |

| Easy, it's the Silver Wing .org that you had to be politically correct at that is closed to new members not this forum. There are other reasons for posting besides points totals. I know I don't post for points and it would mean nothing to me if there were no points. I remember one time someone accused me of posting only to run up points when I was trying to help figure out their problem. I never pay any attention to how many points someone has and I really don't know any purpose they serve. I think two of the three posts about points I've seen were in a negative tone, and one was asking what the points were for. I just don't understand why anyone would care how many points someone has. Wow four posts as I was typing but I'm not going to retype all this. |

| I haven't posted there in a while, but have stopped by to look and lurk.... the place still gives me the heebie-jeebies. The mention of that being a dying site came up some time ago here someplace. It just felt so awkward and stand-offish there.
Back then at that site I just thought it rather loony when told that the membership had been culled because it was too popular. REALLY?
Apparently the guy has issues. I'll be polite and not make comments that would get me into trouble.... It's too bad really. With a more tolerant and welcoming atmosphere, it could be so much better. At least it sounds like it will be left open for viewing. |

The site owners' personal business is creating websites using open source code. Because of the design of that board software, I was able to curate a section which was a one stop shop for all parts and accessories available for the wing. It was a tough balance. How do you let people know what's available without advertising the product? Jeff really spearheaded a lot of tutorials on wing repair and maintenance. Between the two sections there was no more informative site in the world for the Silverwing. When this site came up, rather than duplicating material, which due to format does not lend itself to the same organizational format, we would add links to the .org site. This also happened with the Yahoo group, and a few international sites in Italy, Japan and South America. So he was footing the bill for all the traffic to his site from all over the world that were links placed in those for-profit sites. He was adamant that their be no advertising on his site, and no linking to his site by other sites that support advertising, because in his mind, he was indirectly supporting advertising sites at his expense. It no longer served his purpose, and by then he had sold his Silverwing also so it was of no benefit to him. Those who were still enthusiastic about the wing moved here. We culled the important information from that site and moved it here too. After all, it was our work that put it on the site. Why shouldn't we have the opportunity to share it with another site. Well of course we all "betrayed" him, sides were taken, he culled the membership by removing anyone that didn't take his side. In our eyes we think negatively of him, but as his goal was really a business demo, he did nothing that hurt him or his business by pairing it down, as it only cut his costs.
