Greetings to everyone from Whidbey Island, Washington

Greetings to everyone in the Forum. My name is Larry and I live on Whidbey Island which is about halfway between Seattle Washington and Vancouver BC, Canada. I bought a well maintained red 2003 SW with 22K miles in October. I haven't ridden a cycle or scooter for 20 years so I've been practicing locally when weather permits. I will be using my SW to commute to/from work plus take a few day trips on the weekend.
I look forward to getting maintenance tips from members and reading about the adventures of others.

I had to do a search for Whidbey Island. It sounds like an interesting place.

Welcome and I love Whidbey Island!!! My son was stationed at Whidbey NAS for years and I loved going there to see him. He had a place on 5 acres out near the north gate. A few miles from Oak Harbor!

Welcome to the forum! I well remember a couple of occasions back a few years anchored just outside the bridge over Deception Pass waiting for the tide to turn. Missed the tide by less than a minute the last time and got spit back out into the Sound. My old K38 could make about 6kts on it's aux engine but that couldn't beat the tidal flow.

Welcome from Las Vegas! Enjoy your scooter, I've had my 2002 SW for a few months now and I'm really enjoying riding it so much I sold my Triumph Tiger last week.
I took the ferry from Port Townsend to Whidbey Island two summers ago. I really like that area, especially the Olympic peninsula.

Welcome from western Nebraska. I have a 2005 with about 47000 smiles. They are pretty fool proof as long as you keep them properly maintained. Oil changes, etc. when they are due. Like any machine it will be loyal to you as long as you are loyal to it. Have fun and ride safe.

Greedling's to you Larry ! Welcome aboard to the forum . I also enjoy riding a 2003 w/7k plus smiles on it among a few other bikes that I own . Safe practicing . Here's some practice for you . Find a parking lot with no one around , and pretend there is a safety cone at the end of each painted white line which make up the parking spaces and try to safely weave through them as slow as you can or at whatever speed you prefer . Mile of Smiles !

I have never been to Whibley Island but I have been to your area of Seattle, Puget Sound, Vancouver, and Victoria Island. Beautiful country up there. One day I hope to ride my scooter there you will find lots of good information and friendly people here. Ride safe.
