| Hi guys! I have seen a recent post of "cotetoi" about repairing surface scratches in plastics.
My question is about how to repair scratches on the windshield.
I have the original windshield of my Silver Wing 600/2007 and it is full of scratches. Does anybody know how to repair it or polish it? I went to a car service, where they polish car windshields, but they just polish glass, not the material of my windshield...
Thanks in advance, Fernando

If you are willing to pay for postage and handling I'll give you my old OEM windscreen. It's been wrapped up in my garage for many years and is scratch free IIRC. PM me if you are interested.

| Many thanks, but in Argentina we have some restrictions about purchasing abroad. I want to know a method to polish the windshield |

| Can you buy a product at home or off Amazon called Xerapol? It's a tube of white coloured acrylic scratch removing cream. I used it to remove a scuff mark off the red reflector of a top box. |

| Most auto parts stores sell a headlight/turn signal buffing kit. The kits come with either a sponge ball that can be mounted on an electric drill or a sponge pad to rub out the scratches. If you are VERY LUCKY, the kit will come with the drill tool, otherwise, it takes a LOT of rubbing. The next thing is to seal the acrylic. Good kits include a sealer, if not, you will need to find sealer elsewhere. I found sealer at a Harley - Davidson dealer. Another good source is sport aviation airport maintenance shops. Most sport planes have acrylic windshields. Hope this helps. Good luck, Rick |

It would be a gift, not a purchase. Tim |

| Meguiars do various polishes - I've used PlastRx with good results.

| I had a few scratches on a VTX windshield a couple years ago. I bought the "good stuff" and rubbed for a couple hours. Then I got a 1/4 drill with buffer and polished even more. I still had scratches. Save the grief and buy another windshield. |
