My 2005, 18000 km SWing is working well. I was going to sell it, but lately, I have been appreciating the great ride and convenience. I will sell if I get my asking price; otherwise it will stay right here. I am looking to replace the drive belt and , possibly, go with Dr Pulley sliders. I am also looking to go aftermarket on the belt because it is $50.00 cheaper. I know that purists won't agree. But has anyone here gone with a belt other than OEM ? If I go with the aftermarket belt, I can afford the sliders too. Thanks. Jay.

Coterie, you wont know if you've saved money until 13000 miles or so down the road. If you get stuck on the side of the road for a pre worn belt you'll know it wasn't a good deal. I would save the extra $50 then get the OEM belt and the sliders. AT 18000 KM you still have a while on the OEM belt. I think the belts are good for 16,000 miles.

Greysilver, the handle is Cotetoi. In all fairness, an OEM belt could just as easily leave me stranded. That has been the case with some members here. My ride is 10 years old, and I would think, from reading here, that the age of the belt is getting up and some deterioration would have occurred by now. I am looking to hear from those who went aftermarket with the belt and what their experience, good or bad, has been.

My first belt change was at 32k kl,the belt was still in good condition. my second belt change was still in specs at 40 k kl .my next belt change will be at 50 k kl .From there I will go back to my first belt change and re install it for another 15 k kl .I do a inspection of the belt every 12k kl oil change. If there is no sigh of belt cracking , keep using your belt or go with a new OEM belt , they last longer then the recommended 25 k kl belt change.
