| Hi. My name is Melody, and I just got my new Silver Wing about a week ago. I had been riding a 2004 Honda Reflex, and someone was interesting in buying it. I also ride with a great group call Oregon Scooter Club, and we have taken some long rides. The Reflex was having a hard time on the long rides, so it was time to move up.
My husband rides a Harley Davidson Heritage Classic, and so now I can keep up pretty close to him.
Glad this forum is here! |

| BTW, I forgot to put down the mods my husband is going to add the the Silver Wing. He's going to wire my Garmin, and add in a 12 volt. I also ordered a Givi v46 top case, along with the Admore lighting kit, and some other goodies! |

| Welcome to a great Silverwing forum Melodys39. You won't have a problem keeping up with your husband's Harley. In fact the performance of the SW compared to the Harley isn't going to make him happy once he finds out how hard he'll have to work to keep up with the SW in the twisties. Good idea on the GPS. I had my Magellan 2200 GPS mounted in he center of the handlebar cover. Right in the middle of the handlebars mounted at the same angle (vertically) as the instrument panel. That was pretty well ideal. Having the GPS on the bike's center line is a bit safer because one tends to steer where one's eyes are looking. A side mounted GPS can cause a person to wander a bit off course if you look at it too long. With the center mounted GPS the tendency is to keep on course. My GPS didn't block my vision of the instrument panel at all in that location. I've installed my old Magellan 2200 on my BMW C650GT in much the same manner. Try it you'll like it. |

| Hi Melody. Welcome to the best SWing site on the Net. Lots of friendly people here to help with suggestions and information.
I ride an 08 SWing and love it. This is my second season with it. I ride with a group called The Dry Riders here in MN and have no problems keeping up with their "real motorcycles". It surprised them on our first couple of rides this summer. I mean, GEE it's just a scooter. But it's almost like I still have to shift it. When we are riding as a group I have to back out of it when they shift so I don't run them over. LOL |

| Melody,
Welcome to the site and congrats on your new SWing. As others have said you will have no problem keeping up with most motorcycles. I had a Reflex once and it was hard to keep up with traffic and on hills. You won't have that problem with the SWing though. Once you get used to it's weight and additional power you should have no problem whatsoever. Tell us how you like it as you ride it. |
