Dear Silverwing Riders, I live in Atlanta, GA bought a 2007 SW ABS has 1783 MI. 15 months ago never been on it because i was traveling. This week i siphoned the gas out and put new gas, & battery. I tried to run it but got no luck. The scooter crancks but does not start the multifunction display flickers. The fuse on the left side 30 AMP is good. I am not sure if the issue is an electrical problem or fuel delivery. II forgot that the SW was dropped, any suggestion would be appreciated. Ride Safely.

The flickering of the display suggests an electrical issue, quite possible a connection problem. I would start with checking all connections for loose or corroded contacts and since you replaced the battery, it may be where the problem is.

| Check your battery voltage. You should have at least 12.5 volts at the terminals. If the battery voltage drops below 12 volts while it is cranking then there won't be enough voltage to crank the starter AND power the ECU and Fuel Injection, etc.
+1 on what Yammer said. Check your battery-to-ground connection.
Tim

Thanks guys for your quick response, The cables are well connected and tight. I will check the battery voltage and see what is going to happen.

You sure the kill switch is in the 'operate' position?

That kill switch thing happened to me one time and I thought, "What The Heck!" But once I figured it out I check it now when it won't start. Sometimes I bump it without knowing when I get off or move it around in the garage. It doesn't even have to go all the way to kill to kill. I've had the switch sit half way a couple of times.

I prefer bikes that allow the engine to be cranked with the kill switch set to stop the engine. It's real handy when you need to spin an engine over to do compression checks or other maintenance. It is more likely with this type to cause embarrassment when you're stuck at an intersection with a green light and cars honking at you. Don't ask. Well actually it was my glove that caught on the switch.
