Oil Leak fix Empty
PostSubject: Oil Leak fix   Oil Leak fix I_icon_minitimeFri Jul 03, 2015 9:36 am

Ever since my ride last year to Death Valley and doing 105 mph, I have had a oil leak which I thought was coming from a seal on the eng. casing.
I tried using the best oil leak stopper I could buy, but no help.
I finally steamed cleaned the whole area and took it to my local Honda mechanic, who has always treated me well.
He pointed to two sensors on the right side of the eng that have wires going into the casing that have rubber seals on them and said he would charge $ 200.00 because of the work involved in taking every thing apart.

I took the bike home and used a can of (break clean) to clean the area then used a clean rag to wipe everything down.
I then sprayed rubbing alcohol and wiped everything down again, letting it sit for a few min.
Then took a can of SUPER RTV SILICONE black and put a layer around both rubber seals, dabbing it into the area with my finger then a little more just for the heck of it. Fortunately, this can came with a 6 in. nozzle on it because it would have been much difficult to apply.
I let the bike sit for two days and the RTV actually blended into the area like a charm and two weeks later, bone dry. alien beamed up

Death Valley wouldn't be the place where one would tarry. So 105 might be appropriate. Not like you'd need to slow down for School Crossings, or grannies crossing the road with their shopping carts there

105 why not? Mad  a get off out there wouldn't be very quickly attended to for one but at that speed I guess it wouldn't make much difference where that happened. I saw 100 once on my G'Wing 1500 then it kicked in thinking wise and I went back to the 70 mph legal speed. Maybe tending those that had get off experiences brought that to mind. In any case we take our chance and get on with it.
