| I'm trying to remove the windshield garnish and get to the headlight. It took all the 4 screws holding it on, and I tried pushing it down and pull out. It doesn't seem to go down like it should. It is a 2004 Silverwing no ABS. Please help!
☺
Thank you, Mike LaPointe |

| Mike....If you use a thin piece of plastic, something like a credit card, and slide it under each front edge of the garnish and push down gently with a bit of a wiggle it should come off. There's a bit of a knack to it but once you've done it you'll do it better next time.

| Thank you for the reply terrier. I am still having problems getting the garnish off. Is the credit card supposed to help me get the garnish off of the windshield? I already have it loose from there but it won't come off the hooks underneath. I am getting so frustrated with it I am considering pulling it off and breaking the dam hooks and fixing them again with JBWeld. I'm not going to do this of course, but I'm very tempted to.
What I am trying to do is find out why my headlight goes out once in awhile switching from hi to low beams. I am planning to check the headlight first and see if it has proper contact. When I'm there, I can also check to see if the wiring to the light works.
Thank you, Mike |

| Ok Mike...The idea is to slide the plastic/credit card under the loose edge of the garnish to ease the hooks up. I didn't find it easy the first time I did mine but I've done it a couple of times since and it gets easier. There's a knack to it. Just persevere it's better than breaking the hooks off and giving yourself more work. Once you get it off you'll find there's not a lot of room in there. More so if you have the ABS model as the ABS module is also tucked in there. Small hands and patience needed. You can get at the high beam, the lower light, from under the front of the fairing. You'll find that most things on a SWing can be difficult to get at.

| May be if you used the credit card to pay someone to do it, it would work better :lol!: |

| There are pictorials available to help with this procedure. Any cussing and breaking is strictly self taught. |

| Alright, I got it removed. There were two screws that I was not counting for. Thank you for all your help though. Mike |

| Yes, and I think my headlight issue was just due to a bad connection between the wire plug and the low headlight. It seems fine now. ☺ |
