| Subject: Tip for removing windscreen garnish? Mon Jul 30, 2018 6:35 am | |
| I have a new GIVI windscreen arriving today. I've put one on a Silver Wing before, so I know about the 4 screws, etc.
I'm wondering if there is a tip or trick to getting the garnish off without breaking one of the tabs on either side of the dash? I broke it on my first Wing and had to order a new one because it rattled after that.
I've heard "credit card" ... wiggle it ... pull it forward slightly ... anybody know the real-deal way to get this off?
I'm looking for a tip similar to "squeeze in both sides of the pocket" to easily pull out the right inner pocket and reveal the radiator cap and reservoir. I wrestled with that bugger for months until I saw the squeeze technique. Now it's a piece of cake.

| Try inserting a credit card in both sides. Then, standing in front of the bike, in a quick, firm motion with the palms of your hands, slam IN and pull DOWN. Hard to explain...but it works for me.

| I saw an Italian video where the repair person removed four screws, inserted a credit card in both forward corners. He then proceeded to tap the rear corners until the panel popped out. I have used his methor several times with success. I think the cards allow the front corners of the panel to slide over the front panel. Nothing to do with the tabs. |

| Mystery solved. Tim's instinct was right. You have to slide the garnish down. There are hooks on both sides of the garnish, on the bottom and in the middle. They face up and connect with slots on the bike. So you have to push down to separate those hooks and remove the garnish. Photo attached of the hooks on the back side of the garnish. Mike |
