| Due to screw mounted tire had to replace rear tire---as I use bike on daily basis, took what dealer had----Bridgestone HOOP B02.
26 years of Maxi-scooter ownership and now near 400,000 miles, have had 3 Bridgestone outright failures, 2 on Helix, one with Reflex, all on rear-----so took the Bridgestone as I hate walking.
I am fussy about tire inflation/installation/inspection. Use Ride On as balance medium.
NOW: new tire at 1,000 miles is starting to wear SQUARE. Ok for rolling down straight road, surely some effect on cornering performance/feel. Life of tire may not exceed 5,000 miles. I had/have been getting 10,000 miles out of Michelin Power Pure SC on both SilverWing and Burgman 400....rear.
Future: Will probably replace this tire with Michelin on rear. Michelin is already on front, been there for 5,000 miles and I expect 25,000 mile life. But may try Kenda F and R as complete set---based on experience with Kenda on low performance motorcycles (Suzuki 250 and GS500E)
Bridgestone were once OEM on SilverWing, but my 2013 leftover came with IRC and sticker underseat recommends IRC. IRC worked well for me, but replacements are expensive.

| Most unusual John. In the UK Bridgestone hoops are the number one tyre for the Silverwing. I usually get 8,000mls out of the rear tyre, that is when it has 2mm of tread left, although legally it could go down to 1.5mm. any lower is illegal in UK. Front usually 11,000mls. I have tried Metzellers, Pirelli and Michelin ,but, gone back to Bridgestones. Maybe the Bridgestones we get are made in a different factory, or country. |

| John, I had a similar thing happen with my 750 Honda ACE Dunlop rear tire. Installed brand new with dyna beads for balance. I check tire pressure before every ride, and it stayed good. Tire wore out in 2000 km! The front tire, also Dunlop lasted way more, and it had the beads too. I have avoided Dunlops because of that experience but it could be a one-off thing. I have been quite satisfied with the Metzllers on the SWing: the bike behaves well in all situations. Jay. |
