Hello from Teesdale, UK.
I've been riding bikes for many years but, since I have moved out into the sticks, decided to buy a nice little scooter to make the summer commute more enjoyable. Think nice twisty, country roads with bugger all traffic. I know, I know, it a hard life :-)
The thought process (or what passes as a thought process for me) was to avoid spending summer sitting in the car, and the other bike (Tenere 1200) is a little extreme for commuting duties.
So having been looking for a nice little 250 to 300cc, economical scooter... I bought a 10 year silverwing with a perfectly reasonable 12k miles on it.
So neither small, lightweight or economical then. Hummm.
I can't leave the damn thing alone though!

Funny isn't it, how hard it is to make a 'rational' decision about a bike (and a few other things!)?

That said, a Silverwing is somehow sensible and fun. Enjoy!

Hi Steve...........Welcome to the forum from another UK member no too far from you in Northumberland. As you say, you never know which direction you'll take sometimes. I went from a Yamaha Dragstar to a SWing. Wouldn't have put money on that a few years ago Enjoy the ride.

Maximuppets do, X9 Owners Club (my 'other' club) does.

Maxiscooter and other scooter riders are welcome at rideouts organized by both clubs.

Sometimes members attend who have moved on to other motorbikes.

A dyed-in-the-wool X9 owner who lives somewhere near Blackpool plans rides and trip and invites other riders along.

Hey Steve, welcome and warning. Several people have reported their motorcycle disappeared from their garage after they got a SW. I'm one of them my Goldwing isn't in there anymore. Nor my BMW K1100. Just the scooter...

Hi Steve and welcome to the best SWing site on the net. There's lots of friendly people here ready and willing to help with their vast knowledge on SWings. I've learned a lot of "how to's" on here. Is that a correct term? "How To's"? Oh well, there's lots of "How To Do Things On Your SWing Stuff" here... That's better.

Omg exavid does that mean the sw has cannibal tendancies? Will it try to eat my poor little tenere? That will cause bad case of indigestion!

No, it just eats up the miles.

Don't worry Steve, it won't eat 'em but after some time it will become apparent that the SW is getting most of the use. I kept a motorcycle along with my scooter for a couple of years or so but now the scooter is the sole two wheel occupant of my garage.

Welcome Steve from Panama City Fl. Put about 900 local miles on mine this week ( just got it about a week ago). Lovin every mile of it. Still have my Honda Elite sleeping next to my big boy every night in the stable. My little guy introduced me to the world of scooting, and I don't think I'll be able to abandon him just yet. Of course my Civic is in there with them missing me greatly. Anyway, good riding Steve, Bob.
