| Subject: New front wheel arrived Thu Dec 08, 2016 3:55 pm | |
| The wheel I ordered about a month ago arrived today, earlier than expected as haad been quoted approx 5th january. Took me about 15 mins to get the old one out, getting good at this. Now the problem with the old one was that the disc side bearing had gone live after the non disc side had collapsed, after the fiasco with the one from lithuania I had installed another new bearing with bearing fit. Tonight that bearing is still in place where it should be, Yet when I last rode it at low speed it felt as back as the buckled one and it would not balance, needed over 65g which according to the fitter is too much so we settled on 50g but it did not feel good. What I'm thinking is that the bearing housings have gone 'oval' and at low speed this is felt as a wobble and at high speed a vibration and just not feeling right. So have swapped the disc and abs ring to the new wheel and friday is a late shift so am gonna get the tyre swapped over. Hopefully i'll get back the silver wing loved until that bearing collapse, if not at least i wont feel guilty p/exing it. |

| First day back with the new wheel at the front, bit strange and unsettling at first as the wheel had to be static balanced rather than dynamic, think the damaged rim may have distorted the tyre carcass. As the ride went on the ride got better and tonight was like old times coming home, looking forward to tuesday's ride as this is a late shift and dont leave till 10.30 so not much traffic, time for a few high speed blasts on the straights. |
