| Hi folks, I've been riding for 37 years, all "motorbikes" rather than scooters, sold my Harley Road Glide recently as it was just too big for my needs these days, yesterday I picked up a 2003 Silverwing, 12000 miles on her. Looking forward to getting to know and using this scoot! |

| Hello Scrubby. Thank you for your introduction. Welcome to the forum.
At 12000 miles your Silverwing isn't even broken in yet. But the "V" light comes ON at 16,000 miles to indicate that it time to change the belt. Many folks here have gone to 20,000,or even 25,000, miles before changing the belt. So don't panic when that light comes ON.
There is a Tutorial in the Maintenance section of the forum which shows you the steps to making the belt change. Or check YouTube. It's actually not at all complicated given the right tools --just don't use an impact gun on the variator bolt.
Careful too when changing the motor oil. Use the correct size wrench on that big, but delicate, drain plug. Easy to round off the nut.

| Welcome Scrubby! This is a great forum because so many of the folks are more than happy to share their vast wealth of experience to keep your Silver Wing healthy and running smoothly.
I am relatively new to 2-wheel riding -- only 5 years now -- but love what this scooter has done for my sense of freedom on the road.
Thanks for joining us!

| Hi Scrubby from a fellow newb. I’ve only had mine just over a week but have added quite a bit to mine already. Absolutely loving the benefits of the Swing in these wet weather days compared to being cold and wet on regular motorbikes. |

| Welcome Scrubby to the best SWing site on the net. There's lots of information here on how to maintain your SWing and a lot of people here ready and willing to help. I've learned a LOT just by being a member here. |

| Greetings and welcome from Nova Scotia, Scrubby!
Had a great trip to NI years ago. Home base was Sheleven House in Bangor and played the tourist. Visited lots of places including Belfast, Portaferry, Grey Abby, Bushmills, Ulster Folk Museum and of course The Giant's Causeway. A most scenic part of the world you live in. And a must see was the visit to Daft Eddy's. Carrickfergus Castle and other castles too were visited.
Enjoy your Silverwing ... we all do !

| Thanks for the welcome guys, the weather here is miserable, cold, damp, foggy and lots of black ice, pfff, roll on springtime...
BTW Mike, I actually live in Bangor, you're quite right about the scenery hereabouts, it'll be April or May tho before I can hit the road. Oh well, plenty of time to service and generally poke about the swing :-) |
