| Hi, my name is Martyn, I live in Northern Ireland and I just acquired a 2001 FJS600 Silver Wing. Formerly rode BMW's for the past 15 years and various Japanese for 15 years before that. Love the Wing for being so radically different and such FUN (so far!)
I'll be using the forum for advice on maintenance etc as service manuals for the UK model seem very rare.
Cheers for now. |

| Hello Martyn, I've been occasionally going over to Norn Iron on a variety of bikes and scooters since the 1980's... so I have. |

| Well Meldrew, Cumbria is a lovely place too, spent a lovely family holiday there years ago, pity I wasn't on the bike though!
Interested in your bike spec, especially the leg wind deflectors. Since I got mine I have noticed a turbulent swirling that cools the legs from the knees down. Where can I get them? Expensive? Also the saddle bags & top cases. What sort of mounting plat do I need? I'm green at this! I had such a knowledge base for my old Beemer but it's all useless now with the Wing! Recommend me some places for buying parts & accessories will ya?
cheers |

| Hello Martyn,
The leg wind deflectors are well worth having, they keep the legs warm and dry which is great, as you get those very fine rain droplets over in N I that stick to your visor like **** to a blanket. You should be order them from your local Honda dealer for £105.19.
A Givi mounting plate for a top box should be about £40 and it seems straightforward enough to drill 4 holes in the rear rack to mount it. My dealer done mine for me, and there's plenty of info on accessories here on the forum.
I bought my Givi E55 top box from www.bykebitz.co.uk in Hampshire, they send out stuff pretty quick and also sell the Givi Airflow AF214 adjustable screen which is very popular, and there's pages of posts and pictorials about the Airflow on here.
For soft luggage the Givi T421 panniers were originally used on my 650 Burgman after I lengthened the straps and put non-slip backing on them. They've been fine and I've never had to zip out the extended section, or use the rain covers.
The Cameron bags I bought in a Sale at the Get Geared shop in Leeds, www.getgeared.co.uk The straps didn't need lengthening and they have a simpler roll over top and snap buckle system instead of zips.
Regards
Meldrew

| Thanks, but I'm a Silver Wing Expert only because my post count sticks that title in the box beside my forum name not because of my technical know how. If and when I lose interest in the Silver Wing I'll probably be slagging it off in the forums like I do now about the 650 Burgman. It's what we Meldrew's do. ( That's the Meldrew Grin! ) |
