| I’m new to Maxi Scooters but not to motorbikes. I had a great time riding scooters in Bali so when I saw a Silverwing for auction I bought it sight unseen. We are in lock down in New Zealand so for a project I gave my Scooter a cosmetic restoration. This is my first attempt at wrapping I’d like to share the results. BTW what is the on off handle that you can pull lower right side of scooter? |

| That's an awesome wrapping job! My Swing currently looks like your "before" photos but with more road rash.
Not sure what you mean by a handle? Do you mean the pillion footpegs? |

| Parking brake. There's a separate mechanical caliper hiding behind the exhaust muffler. Very useful |

| Subject: Starting Issues Sat Apr 25, 2020 7:26 pm | |
| I haven’t had my Scooter for very long. It has developed starting issues. I kick the stand up turn on the key, wait for diagnostics to finish pull on the left brake leaver and push the start button, then nothing. The lights dim but it doesn’t turn over.
It is intermittent but happens more often than not now.
Any ideas??
Cheers Gary |

| Welcome. Scooters are a bit different than bikes. I'm a long time bike rider also SW has a few different things took me awhile to learn about a new ride.
No start-crank but it sounds like a weak battery or dirty connections at battery. I don't remember anyone ever having a starter issue. Battery. |

| Hi Gary Your starting issue might be as simple as dirty contacts in the starter button. As you push it in to make contact for the starter circuit, it also breaks the connection for the headlights, so normal for these to dim off. Try some WD40 or contact cleaner sprayed into the opened switch block. Cheers, Terry |

| Welcome! Love the wrap job. Hope you figure out what hopefully seem to be minor issues. |

| The battery tests a 13 volt I used contact cleaner in the switch block, but no improvement it starts perhaps one in 15 tries. Otherwise no go |

| The starter circuit requires the kill switch to be in run, the sidestand up, and the left brake pulled back in pretty hard. I'd check to see if you hear two distinct clicks as you pull the brake lever in, the first is the brake light switch, the second is for the starter interlock. If you don't consistently hear that second click, that could be the issue. This one also responds to contact cleaner and a bit of working. |

| Thanks for that. I wasn’t pulling hard enough on the brake lever. All good now.

| A new ride. If it were a manual bike you know all that already. NO neutral. It's different thinking with auto-trans. I miss not being able to start SW on side stand but don't want to by-pass switch. I'd forget about it and turn throttle launching it . |

| Hi Victor, thanks, it was my first attempt and I’m very happy with the results. Because of the NZ lockdown I had a lot of spare time to do it. |
