Has anyone added a Givi back rest # TB19 to their Silverwing?

If so, what is your opinion of the back rest? Seems like a simple thing to add if you have a drill. But what comment has your passenger expressed? Is it worth the money and effective in adding comfort to the ride.

Thanks

Mike

Much more comfortable than the backrest pad that fastens on to a top box.

Highly recommended by my two passengers.

Straight-forward to fit, too.

Incidentally, it will fit with a Givi topbox in place.

Somewhere here is a very good pictorial showing how to do the deed.

Here it is, courtesy of JeffR:

Givi stuff good, does not break. As SilverWing long dead new model, Givi does still list the passenger backrest for the SilverWing---get one while you can.

Thanks for the replies Mike & John. Good info and "testimonials" from you both.

I have a note into Twisted Throttle Canada seeking the estimate and possibility of getting one from them since they list it as a special order item. RevZilla has no international shipping right now, due to the virus.

It's a pleasure - good to feel useful!

I suspect the shipping charge might seem a bit steep; it's a very heavy piece of kit.

Good luck with it all. Smile

Yes Mike, .... feeling useful can be a thrill at times ...LOL !!

They claim on their site shipping is free on orders over $49 ... but we will see. I bought a Givi 214 Std windshield from Twisted throttle a few years back and all was more than satisfactory but again it was a wait for product as it was a special order.

Thanks,
Mike that

I have a GIVI passenger backrest on the SWing I'm selling. I have never ridden "pillion" behind myself even on those days I forget to take my pills. confused

Passengers have said it feels safer and more robust than the GIVI top case pad (which I used to have). They also reported its comfortable with the GIVI passenger backrest.

Seat clears fine ... never had the GIVI top case and GIVI passenger backrest mounted at the same time so I defer to MikeO's experience here.

Thanks for the input sonuvabug.  My wife will come on short rides around our town but not anything longer than that her back suffers from no back rest.  Adding a back may not mean she will come on a longer ride; but she will be more comfortable on the shorter rides ... so the investment is worth it.

I totally get it and agree with you. Even with the Utopia driver's backrest, it's not like I fully lounged out on it but just that little bit of support from behind made a world of difference from a comfort/back support and perceived safety/security perspectives. I would never ride without a backrest now.

Does the Givi TB19 backrest work with the OEM Honda backbox too?
