Hey folks, first post after looking for similar situations. I'm from Mississippi and my wife owns a Silverwing. Has always cranked instantly and ran perfectly, however, yesterday after taking it down the road a few miles to exercise, I got back turned it off and later tried to crank it. It turns over fine as I keep it on a battery tender. It does fire and sputters but won't go ahead and crank over and run. I am totally unfamiliar with this type of engine and fuel injection so I really don't know where to go with this. I hate to haul it to the Honda shop without at least trying something myself. Any suggestions?

First---how old is battery? I would take battery out, take it to battery plus in US, have it load tested, etc. Not good buy new battery. Batteries over 2 years old on bike not in daily use can be problem period, especially in bike with no kick starter or ability to bump start. Fuel injection has certain voltage requirements to function

That will be next step because it will turn over now but no sputter at all and it does seem slower. Suppose I could put a jump box on it? I do catch the odor of gas. Battery tender does show green fully charged though.

Well, sadly I don't think the battery is the issue. Made sure, using a jump box and cables there were plenty of volts and amps available. Motor spins over nicely but doesn't fire at all. Battery wasn't that old anyway and was always kept on a battery tender so jumping made no difference. Thought we were onto something.

Could be flooded. If you wind the throttle fully open and crank it, the FI knows to shut the fuel off while you do that to clear the engine.

| If what Terry says, above, doesn’t work you need to check whether you are getting proper fuel delivery. IIRC chapter 5 of the FSM covers the fuel system. Could be that the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) has failed or that the pump has failed of the filter is impacted. Here’s a link to an online FSM:

Do use the Search / Google function here to find many previous discussions about fuel pressure / fuel volume issues.

Appreciated. Tried the full throttle thing no success. However, I looked down into the fuel tank and saw major rust, pretty ugly. Probably going to the shop with it as this is fast becoming more than my expertise. I'll keep ya'll posted. Thanks.
