Howdy all! Took a look at the air filter today, kind of nasty. Does anybody clean these, then re-use them? 50$ is kind of steep to me for a new one, however, I did order one. Thanks, Paul

I've blown mine out backwards before with an air compressor. It worked long enough for me to save up and order a new one. I'm on a limited budget and have to save up for most stuff.

I get HiFlo HFA1617 air filters on eBay, for approx. $25 shipped, They make lot's of the OEM filters, excellent quality.

| I've vacuumed & blown out my OEM filter, then rinsed it and hung it up to dry. There it hangs as a spare just waiting until next time
I may have misted it with WD-40 afterwards too. If it works for a K&N filter, then why not?
A tight budget is the mother of invention

I switched to a K&N years ago... Have about 20K on it and have cleaned it one time. Paid 50 bucks ONCE and 10 for cleaning kit. Will never need another one. You will hear horror stories but I use to live near K&N and have used them in all types of vehicles and NEVER had a problem. Good luck. Donning my flame-retardant underwear.

I find/found SilverWing air filters hard to get at---rode both my new SilverWings, 2009 and leftover 2013 to about 50,000 miles each---original filter, with no decrease in gas mileage or performance---mostly highway/city riding/pavement----so I just left them alone and rode. Buying old SilverWing now I might look at filter, either clean/buy new filter or K & N have worked on other bikes in the past for me.
