| As I've shared on this site before, I am enjoying new ownership of a 2004 Silverwing with ABS. As one does with a new bike, I'm running through all the little things to do and got all the way down to maybe thinking about touching up the paint, which is pretty good for a 20 year old bike, when I discovered an odd thing: It didn't come in a deep purple in 2004. The two colors I find are silver and red. ??? Any thoughts? All I can guess is: it was repainted? It is hard to see. I'd maybe guess it was a black that had somehow faded to...dark purple? But no, it's all even, it's definitely a dark purple bike. - Attachments

| Well I looked in Ron Ayers and it's showing "CANDY RASPBERRY RED", whatever that means, contact Color Rite they may be able to help you, my SW has a white sticker in front wall of under-seat storage that has the color code, also look at sticker on inside area of front fairing next to right fork and verify year model. I've seen many bikes that owners had swapped out complete body work with other owners to get color they liked better or after a major spill, if your damage is a lot, you may consider a custom color match at local auto paint store and/or repainting the whole panel. Hobby/craft stores usually have a huge selection of colors. Just throwing several ideas out there. good luck |

I will eyeball these places. Edit: Sticker says R-150C-U, so mystery solved? Maybe not so fast. On two different lists of Honda motorcycle color codes, this code does not exist. But Amazon sells this: Paint Pen Set Suitable for Honda Motorcycle R-150C-U Candy Raspberry Red-U 20 ml + Clear Lacquer 20 ml I still say "it is not any kind of red"--in fact, it is practically black--but...maybe there's such a thing as "Candy Raspberry Red" which looks to my eye like "very dark purple." Why that color code doesn't seem to appear on lists of Honda motorcycle color codes remains a mystery. Edit Edit: it's also available by code from Australia as paint (not a pen set for fixing little chips). I guess the only real mystery now is: why doesn't this color appear on various lists, how does it appear to be an official Silverwing Color (per sticker), why doesn't this appear on lists of colors Silverwings were painted, etc etc etc. Totally unimportant mystery, but a mystery nevertheless. Note that I'm not looking to repaint or even fix the paint on this bike. It's just a mystery. I don't think I saw this color on any Silverwing, any year, but that was a third party color palette produced by inputting "Honda Silverwing," so who knows. Seems unlikely it would have been repainted, but...maybe so, maybe so. Certainly shows no sign of having been in any major fracas.... |

| I bought lots of Color-Rite paint kits and most turned out to be "Color-Wrong", those kits match new paint, yours is 20yrs old, that's why suggested hobby/craft store, those big craft stores have a lot of colors in enamels, etc. Honda has a funny/interesting way of naming their colors, I looked at a "Candy Wine Berry Red" 2009 and the color is nearly identical to your 2004.
Most body panels on my 2012 are new (2yrs ago), a mix of 2012 "Graphite Black" and 2005 "Pure Black", that's what was available at the time, no difference in my eyes. |

| That actually looks like the wineberry red (R114CU) from 2002 when the SW was first released in the States. That year the SW came in two colors, black and the wine berry red. The raspberry red came out in 2003 as the only color for that year and continued in 2004. Hope this helps. |

| I did a lot of research on color, and there was no purple in the US for any year. I have never seen a purple one offered. I think it was repainted. That being said, R150CU looks a lot more purple to me than red. You can see the color code on the fender is "R150CU". | This is the 2004 color, Candy Raspberry Red. Open your seat and on the inside edge of the compartment front there is a small sticker which says color code . You have to look from the back forward and low to see it. It is white on black plastic about 1½ inches long. |
