Odometer not working Empty
PostSubject: Odometer not working   Odometer not working I_icon_minitimeSat Oct 05, 2024 11:44 pm

Mine is I believe a 2002 (no frame serial numbers, only engine number) hooked to a Kandi Viper 250 front end to make a trike. They did a double wiring splice, front and rear to tie them together. As soon as you turn the ignition switch the light comes on. Tach and speedo work fine so I'm sure it has to do with the parking brake light. They used the silverwing cluster which I pulled out today. According to the wiring diagram a w/bl wire and a green wire go to the meter cpu and parking brake switch. I have disconnected the only w/bl coming out of the plugs on the back of the cluster from everything. Still it lights up. The g wire looks like a common ground for several things by the diagram. My diagram from the service manual seems to be for 2004 I believe. Could 2002 possibly be different?

Any ideas how it is turning on? I am about ready to completely disassemble the cluster but can't get the front plate off without pulling the tach and speedo arms off and not sure how to get them back to the proper position if I do that. If I get that off I can more closely inspect the inner portion of the circuit board. Already had it down to that point and couldn't see any damage on the traces on the back side of the board so I stopped.
Shoddy work on the splcing, stripped the wires, twisted and then taped. I have just finished replacing all those with heat shrink butt connectors, about 60 total. I wanted to fix the odometer issue before I put it all back together.
