| Not being said already, it will be easier to remove the seat and place on a work bench so you are not working upside down. You will be able to drill straight and steady. Nothing like having to twist into weird positions just to be able to reach the bolt or screw you are working on. |

| You might try a soldering gun -or old timey soldering iron- to apply some concentrated heat directly on the bolt. The idea is to 'free' the bolt from the threaded plate it screws into.
Then you'd have to use vise grips on the original bolt to remove it.
Ace / True Value Hardware usually has a selection of metric nuts & bolts. I replaced my backrest screws with stainless steel hex head bolts from the same reason.
