| Today is the 65th. Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
Grateful thanks to all those who made sacrifices, however small, so that we are free. That generation will not be with us for many more years. |

| I think your signature (one of my all time favourite quotes) says it all. It may seem a long time ago now, but many good men did not stand by and do nothing. Generations have reaped the benefits of their conviction and bravery. Thank God for men and women like this. |

| I'm particularly aware of it, living in Belgium now. The Canadians liberated the town in which I reside and there is a special war-memorial to them here. Last week I visited the 'Atlantic Wall' museum on the coast near Ostend, a section of the defences built by the Germans in the First World War and used by them in the Second. It was both fascinating and moving. The Belgians had a pretty thin time of it, especially in WW2. |

| We have to thank those heroes of yesteryear and our youth of today for making this world a safer place to live in.
My own father fought in WW2 and has never talked about it. I have seen the scars and heard tales from his brothers of some of his exploits. He's my own silent hero.
So, thanks dad. |
